Hi everyone,

This is my first post in this forum. I'm looking to buy an LED TV under 25K.

Basic Requirements:
- Should play most video formats like .mkv, .avi, .mp4, .wmv through USB drive
- Nothing fancy, Decent Picture and Sound Quality

That's all.

Please help out! Thanks in advance :)

Panasonic 32 405D if u negotiate well u will get it around 24K. Very good HD quality average SD pq .. Sound is ok. Plays most of the formats downloaded from torrent.

You can also get TVs for Rs 15000-17000 range but not Panasonic of course. TVs like Micromax etc are available which are of course NOT videophile quality.

As far as formats are concerned, I cant comment on that. But I guess a decent media player will solve format problems and you can concentrate purely on picture quality for a TV.

What do you mean by decent media player will solve the format problem? Are you suggesting me to buy a separate DVD player or something?

A media player is a box/unit which is wholly geared to play various audio and video formats across the board. The features are dependent on prices and requirement.

Basically one does not have to worry about which format will play or not once a media player is there.

Many of the players have bays in which HDD can be inserted or attached via a USB. USB sticks can also be inserted and it will play the USB stick. Most of these players will have a HDMI/Component/composite and audio wise, they have optical, coaxial or analogue outputs for the TV/AVR.

I am sure our many FMs who have more knowledge can chip in. So in short when buying a TV, one should look for the best video and audio quality and maybe buy a separate player to sort format playability. I have seen many people being concerned with what formats the TV can play. I think a separate media player solves this problem.

I welcome any corrections in what I have said above.

Hope this helps.

What you said is most sensible, very well put. Concentrate on the core qualities expected first. The rest can be managed and one will have a better entertainment system.

Micromax 32" will come for 15K and a decent media player will come for 4-7K. So it will be in your budget as you are looking for 'decent' audio video quality. I have used Toshiba 32P2305 and PQ and SQ is fine but have not checked with different formats.
