Hi,

As the title states I now want to watch 3D movies on my HTPC. I am missing something and can't experience 3D for some reason. Rips are fine, some 3D samples/demos work fine but for some reason I can't get Avatar 3D (45gb blu ray) to play on 3D. Don't want to do much headbanging with softwares/expert tweaks so starting this thread.

Have these installed:
XBMC Gotham 3D?
PowerDVD 13 3D support.
Coral Windvd with 3D support.
Arcsoft Total Media Theatre with 3D.

Just throw in first hand experience/suggestions to play 3D from a PC.

PS: I am on onboard ATI 3000, will that bottleneck 3D?

Thanks.

For 3D blu-ray to work the GPU should be 3D capable. Most onboard GPUs are not 3d capable. Get an entry level GPU like nVidia GT620.

MKV, MP4 formats I guess. Let me double check and report back. Thanks.
EDIT: Mkv format.

I mean, are the movies appearing side by side or over-under?. Most download files use SBS or OU format which can be played in any mediaplayer. Blu-Ray 3d disk uses frame sequential which needs 3d capable gpu.

@baijuxavior - I have zotac GT610 Synergy edition 1gb graphics card : ZOTAC GeForce GT 610 Synergy Edition 1GB: ZOTAC - It's time to play!

But it seems that the audio is always out of sync when I play the Blu-Ray 3D disc in TMT5. I have never tried with playing the SBS 3D. But this problem I have faced only playing the 3D iso file. So there may be a problem while playing the BD3D iso.

I don't know what exactly you mean but I think it plays side by side. Which GPU would be best? I heard Nvidia handles 3D better than Ati. Is that true. I really want to buy an ATI card but will buy Nvidia for better 3D handling if that is the case.
