Hi,

I am planning to buy a 46 inch LCD TV.

Initially I was looking at Plasma, but heard about its burnout and viewing angle problems, so decided to go for LCD.

Right now, I have narrowed down on Sony LCD TV - KDL-46CX520

1. Is there a better option? Samsung LN46D550 - I read doesn't have very good PQ.
2. If Sony LCD TV - KDL-46CX520 is the right pick, what is the best price I can expect and where?

Best I could get is 61900/- on Letsbuy.com

I am bangalore.

Thanks.

Sony KDL-46CX520 has good PQ with a decent feature set.

I have recently purchased Samsung LA40D550 to add to a Samsung led UA40D5500 & a 3 year old Sony LCD. Sony has a very slight edge in PQ if you prefer natural colors.

Also, Samsung LCD's have poor sound - its shrill & tinny. Sony is marginally better in this area.

Plasma have much better PQ and better viewing angles. Burnouts are a thing of past.
If you want PQ, go fo plasma!

Plasma scores in PQ ... but KDL-46CX520 is definitely a good choice... check out the price with diff dealers.

I don't know if the dealers have it.. you can ask for LG 47LK952 in the same price range. It has pretty decent features and even has LG's passive cinema 3D. It was somehow never listed on LG India's website but warehouse's had it (most dealers don't know the model but their list has it). To read more , it's the 47 LK 950 sold in europe..

The place is mention by kittu its located in gandhinagar near majestic bus stand. No shops in particular they all give pretty much the same price.

I went and saw three models:

Panasonic 42X30
Sony 40NX520
Samsung 43D450

Samsung PQ seemed much richer. Maybe the color setting was on the higher side.
But both Panny and Samsung had reflection problem - to the extent of being unwatchable.

I wanted to see Sony CX520, but they didnt had that in store, so had to live with NX520 on display. Wasn't impressive.

I had seen Sony CX520 yesterday and its PQ seemed to outclass all others in the showroom. Today NX520 was pretty disappointing. Croma own LCD looked better ;)

I juz wonder if setting could make so much difference. Getting completely confused.

To top this, store guy told that Sony CX520 will also have reflection problem. The light on the side of NX520 wasnt on, so couldn't really make out whether its true or he was under selling CX520. But he said there is a glass in front in CX520 which results in reflection. Wonder!!!

I am gonna visit a few more stores and then decide.

As of now.... I am completely confused!

Dude dont fall prey to the slides they play on the tv. Better take your own pendrive with videos/movies for better and fair judgement. Also try watching sd content on them too like regular tv. Plasma is much better!

What is natural color? i am just curious.

Shrill and tiny? what does that mean?

I have the 55 "EX72 and 46 " EX52, the audio out of them is outright mediocre IMHO.

I have a Samsung 6 series plasma and the audio out of its speaker is average at best but definitely far better than the Sony.

wanderx... is the reflection as bad as Plasma TVs?

I do watch movies in dark, but then you dont want to watch footy in dark... so if reflection is going to be as bad as what I saw in showroom today, I will probably have to rule even Sony out.. leaving me wondering, what do i buy.

You might have watched the TV in broad daylight. Reflection is common in any mirror , how best you control the light will control the reflection too. Go with the picture quality. Go to the same showroom after dark and watch the same tv. ;)

Sony NX520 has extra glass in front, CX520 doesn't have one so reflections should be less.

There is a comparison of some models here though different reviewers have different preferences - Five cheap non-LED LCD TVs compared | TV and Home Theater - CNET Reviews

As advised above by some best option is to take your pen drive with some movies & songs & compare the various models you have shortlisted & decide accordingly.
