Hey guys, am in the market for a new 4k led tv. Size 43-49". Viewing distance is 6 feet. Have always been a samsung tv user. But am open to lg too. Won't prefer sony as it does not play most formats by hard drive. Among samsung and lg which is superior these days in terms of picture quality and panel dependability?
Also which models to consider? Have gone through some other threads on the site as well.
Another question is when do the new 2017 models come to India. Should I wait for them or the older model prices to fall further?
Thanks guys and your expert views are deeply appreciated...

If you are fine with 50" you should try LeEco Super4 X50 it supports 4k HDR10 which is the most happening feature in 4k technology, and their price is also ok compared to other brands but in US they are selling it for very low price

I have bought the Super UHD 4k LGUH49770T, it has both HDR10 & Dolby Vision & plays all video format via USB. The Web OS is snappy & has Netflix & Amazon Prime which streams flawlessly so far, never felt the need for a dedicated streaming device.

No need to buy Leeco Super x4 any model, HDR is the only good thing about those Tv's but they suck at HDR, so its pretty useless and overpriced. The best option right now is LG UH850T 50inch model retails for 1 lakh

Any idea guys when the B6 2017 coming to India? But I seriously doubt it would end up below 1.5 lacs. Have also heard great things about it. Among Samsung is KU6470 the only good option? I would not like to go fir Leeco. Would like to stick to samsung or lg.

The new LG models may hit market around Jul / Aug (as per the info i received from various showrooms). The B6 or whatever it is called in the 2017 lineup will definitely not retail below 1.5L. The 2016 model may fall to that price.

From what I understand, The blacks in oleds can't be matched because they are true blacks. My question is how much the difference in brightness of led and oled tvs matter in real world usage? Is the lack of brightness in oleds sufficient reason to switch to comparable led models?

The OLEDs are typically brighter. However, the key is contrast. OLEDs give infinite contrast which the LED cannot match.

Is the lack of brightness in oleds sufficient reason to switch to comparable led models?
There is perceptible difference in the picture quality. I went to the showroom to buy the LG UH850 LED but ended up buying the B6. YMMV.

I know the oleds offer infinite contrast because of their ability to switch off pixels. But from what I understand the leds are definitely brighter. But anyways oleds are superior in almost every other aspect. Are you happy with the purchase? May i ask what price you paid for the B6 and where did you get it from? Did you go for extended warranty?

@argurpreet321: You are right about brightness of OLED TVs. Newer generations of QLED TVs from Samsung are capable of producing over 2000 nits while OLEDs can output 1000 nits max. Reference here

I own 49KS7000 and I must say that it is really bright. Samsung talks about "Color Volume" and how luminance impacts reproduction of colors. Reference here

Having said this, OLEDs currently rule the display market due to various other reasons. I have seen them in action and they are definitely better than LED TVs (SUHDs of last year). I could fit max 49" in my room otherwise I would have considered OLED instead.

Well, its the same case here too...the max size I can fit here is 49" and my problem now is that although I think 49KS7000 is the one that suits all my needs, the issue with it is the long stand and the space it requires. You see i have my setup such that I have to place it on the stand. i can't hang it on the wall. Actually I always place my tvs on the table so as to have easy access all around. But right now I can't hang it even if I want to due to my current setup. So what options am I left with? Lg B6 too big and the one 49" I like has a bigger stand. How is the KU6470? I know it must be leagues below the 7000. But still can I go for it?

No interest in 3D. Have read about the above lg model but was not considering because it would have an ips panel. Was preferring va panel, thats why looking for samsung.

@argurpreet321: Do you mean central mounting vs two side mounts? I can't advise you without seeing your setup but there are custom stands available in market. I had only a corner in my bedroom and managed to find a trolley which not only mounts the panel but also houses audio gears. You can do little bit of search on net and find a solution.

I would not advise KU6470 unless you have no option left.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
