There's a 50 odd inch Sony 4K TV on display at Ezone, Chandni Chowk, Kolkata. I was told that the demo was true 4K material and consisted of a young girl running around the place. Parts of it certainly did look gorgeous - the effect of the sunlight hitting the waves, the aerial shot of the girl running across the island in the water, and the extreme close up of the girl's face (you could make out every strand of her eye lash hair!), but without a 2K monitor of the same size, at the side playing the same material in HD, it's difficult to say how good 4K really is.

I think this was the set: KD-55X9004A : X Series (4K TV) : BRAVIA HD TV (LED & LCD) : Sony India

I had almost finalized on a 4K sony tv during this Diwali. On my way home from the showroom to get my cheque book I casually walked inside another tv show room which had 55 inch Sony 4K and 55 inch Sony 2K , I think the model was W 950A, both side by side. Asked the dealer to show the same movie on both. To my surprise the picture quality of 2K model was as good as the 4K one. Some scenes in 2K looked better than the 4K tv. Even the salesman agreed to some extent. Then he asked me to move closer to both tv sets. The 4K did not have any pixelation, the picture was as smooth as it looked from a distance. The 2K picture was also good , maybe slight pixelation, which I could not notice. That was the only difference. The cost difference is too much. So finally I bought the 2K model and saved around a lac of rupees.
