Hunt for TV again & my observations. Requesting suggestions..

hello gents! happy weekend!

so after a long wait of 5 days the TV was finally delivered & installed yesterday, and my first reaction on seeing it was, dayum! this TV is nothing like the 65" version i used to see in the stores! its flush, jet black (and i havent yet removed the protective film too)! the panel of the one in the stores looked like a grey mirror, while this one looks like a semi-glossy black mirror. had it been glossy it'd have (almost) looked like an OLED!

service by croma has been as expected. no delays (infact was given a timeline of 7 days for delivery). plus glad that the installation was done soon after delivery. and finally bid adieu to my old trusty pana 50VT20D plasma too 😪😢🥲 (gone for just 300/-; broken TV, dead tech). thankfully everything got suddenly synchronized on the same day itself, which was looking like a bleak possibility earlier. got a 3rd-party all-metal wall-mount (with in-out, tilt-swivel etc. all motions) for 6.5k; verified the pricing from amazon and found it to be the same. plastic ones cost about half of that, but metal ones are safer esp. for bigger TVs.

PQ-settings & calibration etc are yet to be done. the sony rep will come today for demo and explanation. meanwhile i played some content yesterday. the blacks look deep, rich and 'black'/'inky' enough even during pitch-black dark-viewing, better than what i had seen in the store. and daytime-viewing seemed pleasurable. again, havent yet removed the protective film. will do that today & 'unveil' the TV & 'unleash' its true potential once the sony rep comes today lol.

one thing though i found at night yesterday was some clouding/uneven black uniformity when the TV is booted. i think its expected & normal in an LCD/LED panel..? it doesnt show up or is apparent during dark/black scenes, but is noticeable when the TV is restarting. kindly have a look at the last two attached pics & pls advise if it should be a cause for concern & if i should ask for replacement (although am not really inclined for that as i've less time on my hand now to deal with all the repacking & sending & receiving new unit & its installation etc again!). its not as intense as they seem in the photos where they're looking prominent, but i'll be taking it up with the sony rep, yes.
kindly suggest pls..

@TheSeeker Congrats on your new TV. I am planning to get a Sony 65X90L soon myself and your experience is a positive tick.

thanks! unsolicited advice though - unless you've very specifically chosen the 65X90L over the OLEDs for any (technical) reasons other than the budgetary, i'd really advise you to pls consider LG C3 / samsung S90C / sony A80L over the X90L in the 65" category, reason being that there isn't much gap in the best price-offerings from retailers for/between the 65X90L & the 65" OLEDs, hence the X90L loses its value-worth in that size & price-category to the OLEDs. that price-gap however becomes significant just one size up, in the 75"/77" category, where the OLEDs are substantially costlier than the X90L, so it can be prudent & perhaps wiser to get the 75" X90L over the 77" (or 65") OLEDs if saving some is also one of the goals. this was my biggest predicament towards the end of my hunt, and even now i am getting (mostly unreasonable) yearning for OLED after the purchase, haha! so if you can/are mostly going to watch in a dark(er)/light-controlled environment, mostly 4k content & very less of 1080p or sub-HD content, also going to game, watch movies most, babying the TV is of no issue for you, etc., then i'd sincerely suggest you to consider the OLEDs too for comparisons!

Can you share more details on the tilt & swivel mount?

let the attached pictures do the talking!
the biggest advantage/feature i like of it, is the in-out motion!
i see that similar offerings are now not available on amazon.

havent yet removed the protective film

silly me didnt realize that there's no plastic film covering the panel! 🤦‍♂️😅 there're only stickers in the corner. the sony rep told me that the protective film these days is usually applied only to the lower-end TVs.

now struggling with bravia core app not streaming movies in 4k/'purestream' for some reason....looking into what could be the issue

Yes, most of the content I'll watch will.be 1080p+ (streamed), except son's YouTube.

I am not thinking of OLED because of where my TV is. Right next to a SW window. Not planning to go beyond 65 due to lack of space on the TV wall (Mumbai limitations). The image shows my 50 inch VU, right next to the window, clicked at 8 AM, afternoons and evenings are worse.

I do have blackout curtains, but having to pull the curtains everytime we want to watch some TV is too much.

this was one of my concerns too. didnt want to pull-in the curtains everytime when watching during day, like i've had to do often all these years with my plasma. now brighter & longer days are coming so noons will see curtained rooms anyway, whatever the TV. i am watching this TV too like that. and i have had to turn down the brightness to 30-35 even then.

nonetheless, if you want you can demo the S90C / S95C / G3 too which are PLENTY bright TVs, if you havent yet.

I also want to get the u7k 85 inch but not sure on the after sales service of hisense and also on the panel failure rate. If anyone has any previous exp, please do share. Thanks

Do you have some information about panel failure rate? Im interested in 85U7K too but there is not so much information about this model. No reviews at all. Attractive price. Most worrying things for me are black level and upscale capabilities.

Anecdotal experience isn’t gonna help you.

The U7K doesn’t make sense at 2.5 lacs. It did at 1.4. Better spend a lakh or so extra and go for X95L
