Hi to all at the forum.
My first post. I am a newbie and was suggested to take advice from your amazing forum members.

Please kindly advice me the best option for buying a 50" TV, internet ready and full HD, in a 45-50K range.
I was looking at the following options:

LG 50PB6600 50" Full HD plasma... approx. 46,000 (under exchange)
VU 55K160 55" Full HD LED... 58,000 (under exchange)
VU 50K160 50" Full HD LED... 54,000 (under exchange)
Videocon VKG50FH 50" Full HD LED... 47,000 (under exchange)
Phylips 50PFL4758 50" Full HD LED... 51,000 (under exchange)

Any other model/advice is highly appreciated.
thank you.

What is the price you are getting for LG 50PB6600 without exchange ?

dont know about the exchange offers though but lg 6600 is a sensible choice being a 2014 model and with adeqaute features.for LED tv you can also have a look at samsung and panasonic like the panny as610d for.given your size requirements and the budget qouted i dont think there are many led tv's available.secondly i would suggest you to stick to the big4(samsung,sony,LG,panasonic) and avoid going other brands as their ASS might be questionable

Thanks.
new development.
Friends suggesting add 3D option. rather than 50" size, since budget an issue.

so zeroed down to the following.

LG 42LB6200
LF 42LB6500
Philips 42PFL7997
Samsung 40F6100

Best option Advice appreciated.

Ask your friends how many 3D movies are there and how many are you going to watch. On a daily basis you going to watch 2D and the extra inches will be appreciated daily. 3D is going to be only for show off and occasional viewing.

Please take a sensible decision.

agreed . rohit 3d is gimmick in tvs ... if u want 3d go for projector

Sorry, I didn't mean that way. 3Ds are good in Tvs. But what I meant is how much time are we going to spend watching 3d movies daily ? So picture quality and extra inches takes more importance on a day to day viewing.

If we want 3d,i can pay 200 bucks and watch them in theater. Although, repeatability is not possible once movies are off the theater :p

3D is useless in a small screen is my humble opinion. My vote would be for bigger screen 2D TV if it comes in your budget.

support that strongly being an owner of a 3d tv. Have watched a maximum of 5-6 titles so far in 2 years;) and now the battery of the glass is over, and I don't even feel like replacing them..;)

Thank you all.
So confused between size and 3d since 50K is not a small amount.
So zeroed down on this:

55" LED full HD
VU 55K160 55" Full HD LED.
56,301 snapdeal.

and

the 3D full HD
LG 42LB6500 42 Inches 3D Smart Full HD LED
57,750. snapdeal.

Hows VU in terms of service/support.
Please advice.
thanks.

I am not very confident about Snapdeal's deal - because heard a few bad experiences with people, though not on TV. If flipkart or amazon, can go with confident.

Not very sure about VU's support - may vary place to place. However brands like Onida have a wider support chain as they are in the field for more than 20 years. Ondia 50 is available for less than 50K.

Thank you all.

Will you trust a friend who lie? Fact is VU advertisements are all false.

They are selling INDIAN brand as US brand. Its as if FLIPKART called itself as AMAZON.

So, I would never trust a brand which relies on false advertising to win customers. But then, its me.

Get the LG Plasma or Samsung 4900 Series Plasma. I am consufed between two brands as well.

However, I am confused between 4500 LG and 4900 Samsung.

As you are opting for LG PB6600 which is rated fine , is SMART, Full HD as well. Go for it. Panasonic 410 is no where near when compared with a plasma.

Thank you.
Final 2 options.

LG 50PB6600 plasma 54,000 or 44,000 under exchange on flipkart
or
VU 55K160 55 Inches Full HD Ultra Slim LED Television
58,000 on snapdeal.

scared of huge elect bills on the plasma and plasma is being discontinued the world over.
fantastic specifications but scared of warranty issues from VU.
Plz advice.

I'd suggest you stick with the better known TV companies...LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and maybe Philips and Toshiba. The choice of Plasma goes beyond ASS and power consumption (they definitely are the 2 most imp considerations)...usage pattern, room and lighting condition also play a role. If you like Plasma and it ticks your usage and room boxes, go for it. It's not like they are going to go away tomorrow...maybe the day after but surely not tomorrow.

Having said that, I gotta tell you I'm moving away from plasma and looking at an LED to replace it with. I was using the plasma only for watching movies. I changed my setup such that the TV would be used for both movies and cable. I was a bit worried about image retention as my 4-yr old LG plasma was prone to it plus cable in my house is usually watched in a well lit room which was not ideal for the plasma I had...

Even I am looking for a 40-50 incher LED with a budget of around 70K...watching your thread with interest ;)
