50" TV. (45-50K range) Please suggest best option.

Hi all..one of my team members wanted suggestion on Sony 40 incher for 65K. Being a Panny Plasma 50 inch owner ...told him to get a bigger TV for lower price. hence this thread makes sense to him. I told him the biggest consideration should be the number of years of warranty. Panasonic offers 3 years, LG is 2 years? Does Samsung or Sony offer more warranty for Plasmas?

Please suggest.

I told him to buy a 50 incher LED/Plasma for 50K, spend 10-15 K on decent 5.1 and another 10K for Tata Sky with recorder.

He is just a normal guy who cant differentiate between 720P and 1080P and 95% of usage will be cable TV.

Hence suggestions needed for:

(a) 50 incher for around 50K with atleast 2 years warranty
(b) Decent 5.1 for 15K
(c) Guess dish - whether its Tata/Airtel/Videocon..shouldnt make much of a difference

Hello fellows,
Thinking this as a thread of a person from a similar situation I am facing i would like to ask ypu experts on hifi.
I am thinking of buying a Led/Plasma very soon(can wait till diwali),but earlier the better.
So the information part-
Budget 45-60k.
Atleast a 47 inch
Preferrably a plasma,3d or smart
Full Hd is a must
More of daily channel viewing on dth, with movies on hdd, occassional cricket viewing, and for now no gaming, which I might include an year later.

Few of my doubts which I would like to clear first.

#Should I still go in for a plasma, when everyone saying that plasmas are coming to the end of their cycle, is their any risk if I buy a LG plasma(2014model),which I am most keen to buy.
Personally I think there is nothing bad still buying a plasma bcoz itz a 2014 model and LG is not any brand that's going to shut down their operations tomorrow itself.
They even might give a replacment piece for a plasma to a LED as panasonic did with theirs,as per few threads on hifi,if still the TV is under warranty.

#Can i go in for projectors, though a totally different league i know, leaving all this behind.

#How much would be the difference per year on an avg usage of electricity consumption of plasma and a Led?

#I hope I should not go in for brands like Sansui,Igrasp,Vu,Haier,Toshiba,Lloyd,Hitachi,Akai,Abaj, etc.
As I am getting a whooping 55 inch monster from Vu at just 55k.
Should i go in for it?

#I hope life period of plasmas nowadays are as comparable to LEDs ypthese days.

So getting to the shortlisted products, totally online research(with 2,3k additional discounts on most from online sites on quoted price through offers)

Hoping for a reply, though I know these are hell lot of questions to ask for in a single thread by one person.
Hoping to hear a good response from all you bigshots of hifi, you are only ones whom I can ask,the guys at digital stores are total morons as per my past experiences.
I think they should be given a compulsory 2 hour research on hifi on various forums,so they can get some knowledge on tech.

Greetings:

IMH(personal)O HD content 720p and above certainly looks better in plasma TV's. I personally own plasma,LCD and LED of various sizes and unequivocally vouch for plasma. Truly feel happy too at the prospect plasma has since 2014 models have rolled out.

LG 50PB6600 50 inches Plasma non 3D, but smart, fits all my bill and taste and I am going for it this Diwali.

Cheers! :yahoo:

Deep, how do you find Plasma for cable viewing? I had a 50' Plasma but used to see image retention so never used it for cable TV. Now thinking of going for an LED so that it can peform both the duties...

I paid only 50K for Panny 50XT50 two years back. This replaced my costlier Samsung LCD which went kaput.

Tv had some issue after one year which got covered thanks to 3 years warranty.

I have tata SKy HD and super impressed and not missing 1080P LEDs at all..

I use LG42pq60D 2009 model and TS HD. The image retention we experience lasts just seconds at best, that to sometimes the logo of previous channel. I can certainly say that it is a very small trade off against the true black and whites we get to see in plasmas.

I am told LG 50PB6600 has been able to overcome image retention issues altogether, though needs to be practically ascertained, which I am planning to do this weekend and share my opinion too.

I just purchased a Samsung 51H4900 plasma, for 52800...awaiting its delivery. It isn't full HD but has 3D. I tested it with 1080 HD videos on USB in the showroom and was very impressed by the picture quality.

i would suggest you look at sansui SKQ48FH 48 inch led tv. it is available for Rs38K at snapdeal. I myself am using a 40 inch sansui lcd since 3 yrs and i can tell you the tv is damn good . Sansui does not spend on advertising and hence can price its products lower. VU is an Indian brand...videocon would be better option than VU .
