My first post on hifivision :)
Hi,
Im in the look for a 55" or above 3D TV. Want to buy from 2011 models while the stocks last. Not interested in 2012 voice control, gesture control and shiny UFOs.

Budget: 2L max though looking at 1.7-1.8L
Viewing Distance: 9ft+
Lighting: Might have a 10ft wide french window in new house but can be controlled

3D is an important part for me and not just an add on, though I know they are still in the nascent stage.

So the models I short listed:

Samsung D8000 LED 55":
For:
Excellent Reviews|Amazing Design|Really Good 3D|Plays Everything/Good Smart TV
Against:
Banding|Clouding|Uniformity Issues

Samsung D8000 Plasma 64":
For:
64" of Awesomeness|Excellent Reviews|Accurate Colors/Amazing PQ|Excellent 3D|Plays Everything/Good Smart TV
Against:
Screen Peel|Buzz|Brightness|Other Problems with Plamsas

LG LW5700/6500 55":
For:
Simple straight forward, cheap 3D
Against:
Bad Design|Half res 3D|Not so good PQ

Need to buy 2 TVs, one for friends family. They are not tech savvy or anything, so is there more probability that they might screw up the plasma?(They are using a plasma now since 1 year but they dont know they are using plasma )

Suggest the best and any options I might have left
Thanks in Advance :)

Already some 2012 Samsung models are coming to showrooms. Wait for a few weeks and you will get Samsung 55ES8000 LED or 64 or 60 E8000 plasma. When you are spending 2L it makes sense to wait for atleast a few weeks.

Also i read a review that the 3rd samsung LED tv's have completely eliminated crosstalk and gives flawless 3D experience. So better wait when you are spending that much !!

I was at a similar standpoint last year. People said wait for D series. I waited but the prices made me wait till now to get them. The thing is now I will be getting these for around 1.8-1.9L with 4 3d glasses etc but the new ones will be far costlier and no glasses included. So Im scared I might have to wait for another year if the prices are high and old stocks disappear :(
But still Im tempted to wait but really scared.

I was in a similar position 10 days back.I bought Samsung UA55D8000 for
1,90,000 rupees with 4 3D glasses and 22Inch LCD Tv.Basically I considered Samsung or Sony, but because of the design I went for Samsung.Although We havent installed the TV yet I am happy that I got the deal.
