Hi

I just visited the showroom, and was drawn to the LG UF950 - which they quoted 1.95 as the best price.

I also liked the Sony 8500 series, which they quoted 1.70 as the best price.

Both after exchange.

LG has a 1+1 year warranty. Both above TVs are 4K.

Are the above prices good? I have a budget of 1.5L but can extend myself a bit. Are the above TVs any good.

Alternatively, in the grey market, i have been offered the below:-
Sony W80 for 95K
Samsung 6200 (4K) - 85K
Sony x8000 (4K) - 1.1

Do advise.

X8000C is non 3D model. What's the price for 55x8500c in grey? Last month it was 1.3L

Yes there is no 3D, which I dont want anyway.

My supplier doesnt have 8500.

But do u think LG is better or Sony.

just got a quote for 8500 - its 1.26

Is there any other diff besides 3d between 8000 and 8500?

Motionflow XR 800 Hz as compared to 200Hz in X8000C
Even I never wanted 3D but was forced to go for 55X8500C as 3D panels have better whites and colours. I have stored the 3D glasses in loft :-)

8000C is similar to 43/49X8500C. I have compared 55X8500C and observed that it has better PQ than 43/49X8500C (non 3D)

Sounds good. I am more or less convinced to go with Sony 8500c.

If i were you, i would not buy any 4k TV simply because there is no 4k content in india and even overseas, they are struggling to broadcast 4k content as there are too many technical issues.

Wait for couple of years, the inflated prices will come down substantially.

You are right, but somehow when i see a 4K TV - I like it better. Although u r very right 4K content is a struggle.

But i dont mind spending that little extra.

How close would you be sitting to the TV? 4K makes sense only if you are sitting really close to the TV. At ideal sitting position with respective to the TV Size, I doubt you would find a drastic difference, or do you?

True, its ideal to be seated closer to 4K TV. My viewing distance is 8' for 55". I can make it 7' as I have flexible cantilever wall mount whenever I watch BDs or some 4K content.

The key in 4K TV is the "upscaling" and I feel Sony does it the best. So good SD TV programmes are not bad at all, at this distance. Of course they don't upscale to actual 4K, but viewing experience is good.

My viewing distance is 7' - hence i think its close enough for 4K.

And yes there is a visible difference between a 4K and a non 4K TV.

Go for sony 55w800c . Best in this class . I feel Spending more than 1.5 for tv is waste . even I am planning go for this . If you have any other input please let me know

O.K. - I have finally closed in on the Sony 55X8500C for 1.25L.

Super. Congratulations. That's a good price. I see a price of 2L+ on Sony India site and around 1.5L on other sites.

Do post pics of your setup once its done.
