Hi all,

I converted and mp3 file thru the software Cirlinca HD- Audio solo to 96 KHz/24 Bit 6.1 channel surround whcih had the file format of UDF.This was then burned on a DVD

I am unable to run the file on my sony DVD player. Can anyone tell me how to go about it OR alternatively any other software whcih converts an mp3 format to 24 bit DVD Audio file whcih I can then run on my DVD player whcih is further connected to an Harman Kardon AVR

Why dont you simply burn the mp3 files on a DVD and play them in your DVD player ? All DVD players will recognise and play these files. Further, I'm sure your AVR can simulate 6.1 output out of these files.

In any case, no "audible" purpose is being served by converting the mp3 files to 96 KHz/24 bit. Since the source file is "lossy", the quality will not improve.

I agree with you. Makes no sense at all. If you want 6.1 from 2 channels, use Prologic IIx on your AVR (if it has it).
Also, try a site called "Surrounds by Us (SBU)", to make DTS from Stereo.
However, it doesnt have much difference in quality, infact, the sound will only deteriorate with so many conversions.

96ghz/ 24 bit recordings are done from original analog sources. They say that 192khz/24 bit gives a "better representation" of the original analog source.
But mp3s are already recorded at 44,100hz/16bit. So, no point "upmixing" it to DVD audio.
Its like upscaling an SD avi file to HD quality.

Check you DVD player, I guess it does not support that format.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
