A Hotter Future Is Certain, but How Hot Is Up to Us.

It's a sad thing that the relevant public authorities don't really care or value nature over here.
Just a few days ago I could see a large portion of trees on one of the hills near Goregoan in Mumbai shaved off I guess in the name of development. These hills are the homes to leopards and other wild animals and designated as forest area. But human encroachment is ever expanding at an inconvenience to other living beings.
Vote for clowns. Expect a circus.

They Plunder with impunity as most people are afraid to raise their voices. Tragic times we live in.

The irony is that people pay a lot to get away for a few days in a hill station surrounded by nature to escape the concrete jungle. Only if our concrete jungle had more trees, it would be a respite.

Currently there is no money to be made in planting trees and creating green spaces in our urban landscapes.
Cutting old trees and making money selling the wood is lucrative for small time contractors (obligatory kickbacks of course)
Once the entry to parks and green spaces is charged fees, I think there will be big money players showing interest in this as profit making opportunities. It has happened with highway toll taxes being normalised within a few years. So…

Very true. The mindless branch cutting is rampant during summer time. Probably they sell to the cemeteries.

Kenya’s cities adopt Miyawaki method to restore lost ecological glory

How to help family and friends change?

How do you get those around you to recycle, drive less, use less plastic and otherwise live more sustainably?

“Getting the people we live with to adopt more sustainable habits can be tricky, especially if they’re not already on board,” said Silvia de Denaro Vieira in San Francisco. She’s the co-founder of the home management app Coexist, which helps families collaborate at home.

In addition to leading by example, she has these suggestions:

— Pick your battles and start small. “Focus on pointing out one habit — like composting, reducing single-use plastics or taking public transit — and build up from there,” she said.

— Frame sustainability around the other person’s priorities. “If they don’t care about sustainability, focus on what they do care about. Many eco-friendly choices also save money, cut down on clutter or make daily life more efficient. For example, meal planning reduces food waste and saves money.”

— Make it easy. “Small shifts like keeping reusable bags in the car or setting up a simple recycling system can make sustainable choices feel automatic rather than like extra work.”

— Respect the other person’s boundaries. “If someone is resistant to a particular habit, it helps to take a step back and focus on what’s working rather than forcing the issue. Sustainability is a long game.”

All online delivery sellers have compounded the issue by several times regarding plastic usage especially after Covid for which we are only to be blamed. Basically demand and supply.

The US needs to lead here..I remember an article which showed that the amount of food wasted by 1 average american could feed 1 family in the bottom 50% of india
Just not wasting food may be enough. even seeing cake and pie fights where food is just thrown literally seems gagging.
