Advice for Complete Home Theatre Combo

Hi All,

I am one of the newest member in this forum ( Joined Today ). I have high regards with the quality of opinions in this forum . Some of you guys are absolutely amazing in your feedback / opinions / knowledge and awareness .

I plan to go for my 1st dedicated home theatre experience. Till now despite having interests into Music and Movies I have been limited only to LCD / DVD and 2 speakers Sony Sound System . Now I wish to move into a proper HT arrangements . Please help me with your suggestions .

Location : Pune
Room Size : 12 x 14 sq ft .
Budget : 1 Lac ( +/- 25 / 30 k )
Usage : Movies - 60%, Music - 30%, TV - 10% ( Mostly on Weekends & Holidays )

I am not looking out for an HTiB and also not a separate arrangements for Music / Movies . Basis various forums I have pinned down following requirements -

AVR - Denon 1713 or 1610 or 1513 ? :sos: ( For Long Term )
5.1 Speakers - Paradigm Ct 100 or Wharfedale DX-1 or Wharfedale MS-100 or Wharfedale Obsidian 600 Home Theatre Package ? Have auditioned CT 100 with Denon 1713 and it was an amazing experience spl on movie ( Batman Returns ) , Music response was just okay ( some hindi bollywood A R R songs from original ACD's ) . Could not audition any of the wharfedale speakers ( I am more inclined towards them basis many positive reviews on Hifivision ) . :sos: ( For Long Term )
3D Blu Ray DVD - Please Suggest the best brand !!:sos: ( VFM )
Home Cinema Projector - 3D . Please suggest brands and models with pricing !! :sos: ( Budget and VFM - May replace it later)
Projector Screen - Please suggest arrangements / brands and models . :sos: ( Budget and VFM )

As I plan to go for the set up latest by 10th of April , I hope you guys would help me in making my final decision . :sos:

I would stick with Denon 1713 and Paradigm CT100. Audition them again-- with Music that you know

Projector Screen will be dictated by your room layout- but you are probably looking at a 100 fixed screen

Any Idea about Harman Kardon AVR 70 and TS 9BQ 5.1 Speaker System in comparison to the Denon - Paradigm / Wharfedale Combo ?

I am getting a throw away deal fro Dubai on HK package of 2500 AED which include Free AKG wireless Headphones .

Please advice .

Agree . Either have to postpone things like projector or would have to get things from Dubai etc

It would be advisable to get stuff like projector from Dubai which would fall under the Rs.35000, custom rule. The only thing that would go wrong in a new projector, IMHO would be the lamp which is not a part of the warranty with most brands. And hence, an imported projector (720p) for moderate use, would be sufficient enough.

Any reviews feedback on Pure Acoustic PROXIMA60 speakers with Denon 1713 AVR ?

And how do you think is the deal as attached in the link ? My bro is coming from Dubai so would save on shipment etc cost .

Denon 1713 with Paradigm Cinema CT100 is a good combo.

If you felt music did not sound as good as movie, AVR can be tweaked to some extent to give out audio that suits your taste.

In the future path you can add a serious bookshelf speakers

When it comes to projector, if you can get the PJ from US (most preferrable) or Dubai/Singapore/Malaysia take that route. I got mine from US and in almost 50% of the price(courtesy a friend who carried it from US) and I am happy with the choice I made.

Any feedback on Pure acoustics Proxima 60 . Getting a gud deal on it with Denon 1713 . And what I can make out from international sites is that the price of proxima 60 is higher than DX-1 or CT 100 .
Unfortunately at Pune Pure Acoustics is not available anywhere get an audition !
Is it a gud match to DX1 or CT 100 ?

On HT set up, got the Chance to Audition Denon 1713 & 2113 with Definitve Tech Procinema 600 Today @ Sound Factor Pune .

So till date I have testeds Denon with Focal, Energy, Paradigm & Definitive Pro Cinema . Could not audition with Wharf as none of the dealer has one for audition .

And My choice is with Denon + Pro Cinema . I like the Warm side of Denon and Bright side of Pro Cinema . These combo seems better .

Any opinion Friends ?

Denon 1713 + polk tsi 300 as fronts + polk tsi 100 for surrounds+
CS 20 for centre and psw 125
save on fronts as you will be adding a sub to setup anyways

I think this combo of ''Polk combo of Tsi400 FS / Tsi100 (Or OWM3) SS / CS 10/20 CS / PSW125 SW with Denon 1713 '' is advisable.

My upcoming HT room is also of the same dimension(11 x 14 ft) and I was advised by some of the HT guys that it is better to go for this combo unless you are sure to upgrade to a big room. This toom is small for going for sound setup bigger than this.

This was the same combo recommended to me costing within 1L for the whole set mentioned above without bargaining.

1713 is underpowered for the TSi 400. For TSi 400 you need to consider atleast 1913 or 2113.

But for the room size you mentioned TSi 300s should be fine too.

Thanks Tanmayj , Had auditioned tsi300 also but tsi400 sounds much better . Would stick to it unless my mind changes for something else before the final set up . Had also auditioned Jamo 606 set up but Polk is much better .

My plan started off with a simple HTib set up than I joined HFV . Everything changed after that . Confusion ...confusion ...confusion ... but I am sure the final result will be worth it .

Had auditioned tsi400 setup with 2113 . The sales guy ( a professional sound engr ) adviced that 1713 will okay .
One of the online link IvoryEdge.com: Online Shopping for Cameras,Electronics,Home Appliances,Sports,Fashion and more is also selling the same combo , so I am assuming that 1713 wont be that underpowered for this but will take your advice and give it a try .

Guess there are not many Polk admirers in the forum and hence very few feedbacks !!! :sad:
