SEnd below letter on 26 of march on all known email adress along with long disscution with number of CC, but no reply so far.

Dear CEO Airtel.


This is with reference to my multi tv connection which I brought on 25th
march, I have faced many problems and I am also under impression that the 2nd connecting is the repaired one system with under grade hardware.
I wish you to look in the matter immediately.
The evidence clearly shows that airtel is cheating people by
talking the advantage of the 31st march digitalization deadline by
providing them old /repaired hardware I request to refund my money as early as possible for both the recorder.

I have placed the order to your crevice center /distributer at
Nasik and system been delivered to me .I was shocked to see that the remote
control in the box was used one having all the traces of the rough
handling and scratch mark. I immediately brought into the notice of the
engineer ,he admitted the fact but not able to answer me at all. Also the system he brought not able to take the first installation signal. I refuse to take the delivery . After some time he brought one more
system .I found the system is working but not able to conform the exact GB
capacity of the hard disk through software ( In this case also the engineer
not able to answer me properly.) he was referring to me for the written
mark on the system .But if you can place used remote control in the new
pack why not the under capacity hard disk ??( This mean the 320 GB instead
of 500 GB.). Also the remote control along with
the system is not catching the universal remote function that means not
tuning along with the my LG LCD TV.
I already send two email on [email protected] ,121, mumbainodal,airtelpresence but there is no reply except auto generated reply. I request to refund my money as I found the your cervices is not upto mark.

Kindly refund the money for my both the hardware

the sooner u get away from Airtel DTH, the better ... I was their customer for 2 yrs (I pay the yearly fee). In the 2nd yr, my STB went kaput and Airtel replaced the STB with a refurbished one immdtly. And then my nightmare started.

The 2nd STB was a refurbished one and lasted for all of 2 weeks. Every ticket I raised from then on - the service engineers never kept up to their appointment time and they always called only when I was away at work. And then I would receive a msg saying my problem has been resolved.

Calling their Call Center was by far the most annoying experience ever .. after about 20-30 mins of wait time, this is what every conversation was -
"What is the error code ur getting??"
Me- the screen is blank, the STB is not powering on
"Pls Pull out all the wires and reconnect it and tell me the error code"
Me- the STB is not powering on.
"Sir pls wait 5 mins, pull out the wires again blah blah blah ..."

and finally after a ticket was raised , the ticket would magically be resolved with no technician ever showing up.

My STB didnt work for 4 months. Finally when they replaced it, it was time to recharge my account again, and the annoying calls and msgs from Airtel never stopped.

I should have taken them to court over this, but honestly, I felt enough was enough. They pestered me to either recharge or return the STB . Threw the STB back at their faces, shifted to Tata Sky HD+ and life has been so much easier. Its such a pleasure dealing with Tata Sky after u put up with all the shit u get from Airtel.

Sorry gappa that I ranted out on ur thread, but just thought I'll let you know about my similar problems with them too.

Airtel as Company has very poor record for keeping the customers happy.

Some of my personal examples.

a) I had an Airtel DTH connection which I discontinued and also informed Airtel Rep when he called that I am not interested in continuing with their service.

And now I keel getting automated Voice recorded calls from them that my DTH balance is low and hence service has been stopped and will be restored if I pay. I have not beeen able to stop this harrassment.

b) I am a post Paid Airtel mobile user with a Data plan. I keep getting daily SMS from them indicating the Approx Current usage excluding discount. ( Discount in their nomenclature is the free Data entitled. So teh SMS is absolutely useless). Subsequently once in a while I get an SMS stating that my current month bill excluding discount is so much and I can change the plan for remaining period. The above is misleading and trying to panic the customer to opt for higher data plans.
 
I was on Airtel mobile network and it was a nightmare with billing. Somehow I got charges reversed and got a written apology. They are prats.

Switched to Vodafone and a far happy customer since past 7 years.

Same experience with Airtel Mobile. Now happily swiched over to Vodafone since last 3 years.

Only Airtel broadband and landline is giving more or less acceptable service. Their speed and service is ok at NCR. However, during Jan-Feb'13 I experienced unstable internet connection due to some hardware/line problem, which is got rectified after repeated complain and threat to discontinue the connection.

Airtel as a company is worst in customer service and best in looting the customers. I had nightmares with my postpaid connection (Gold Plan) few years back. After I got a RIM from my company, I wanted to change the Airtel plan to something cheaper just to keep the number active; but they processed it only after 3-4 months after reminding, persuading and begging. Its very unlikely that you will get through their customer care when you need them. Call drops, blank tones,wrong IVR sequences, incessant call wait would make it worse. After it was changed to the plan of my wish, they charged advance rental also- this is after paying Rs. 1500 as security deposit! I was slapped double clip charges also. On the new plan in first month, I had to pay Rs. 690 + taxes for 15 local calls and 5 SMS. I just threw the sim card in the gutter and never looked back at Airtel. They are suckers.

If you read the post, you will notice a stark resemblance to the experience what
yesh1th has faced.

Infact I used to go for yearly subscription but after a couple of harrowing experiences
with Airtel DTH, I just pay on a monthly basis so that if ever there is one more problem
with Airtel DTH, I will simply switch over to some other provider.

The problem with Airtel DTH is that all their customer service departments looks like
are simply disconnected from one another. They dont seem to work together. This was
the situation 2 years back and looks like they have not learnt and still continuing the
same. I dont know when companies like these will stop taking their customers for a ride.

Airtel has out-sourced the support and services business to 3rd party vendors and the result is there for all to see. This cannot improve given the un-professional/casual approach of untrained people these vendors use. Even the corporate leased line that my company took, a lot of pain was endured. So atleast Airtel is now consistently inconsistent with both corporate and individual customers.

You are better off moving to some other provider than sticking to Airtel.

I am also a victim of Airtel fraud, while taking the connection and cancelling the connection they claims the STB is their property but when something goes wrong they ask us to pay. In last 2 years I paid 3x(Rs. 350+ Rs. 150) = Rs. 1,500 for replacing/repairing my STB! The problem started with the STB restarting whenever I switch channels. Customer care blindly told me it is a hardware problem and since my STB is not under warranty I have no other option but to replace it. I agreed and the next day service engineer came with an old refurbished STB but I did not allow him to replace it as the device he brought does not have any warranty. I asked him to repair mine, he took it and brought it back after two days.

In next 12 months the same story repeated and each time I paid Rs. 350 as repair charges and another Rs. 150 for engineer visit.

Last month again my STB started showing same symptoms. I am sure that the problem is not with the STB but with the firmware/software. This time instead of giving the exact details I told them that I am getting an error code intermittently. The customer care executive asked me to pull out and re-connect all the cables and re-insert the card. I did the same and to my wonder the STB started working again! When I asked about the root cause he said it might be because of some loose contact!

Last one month I am not seeing any issue with my STB but I will definitely switch to a better DTH operator.

All providers are from the same breed - some are somewhat better, some worse - but the margin of difference is not all that much. When it comes to customer care, TataSky seems to be the best of the lot.

Don't have high hopes from TATA Sky as well.
I moved from Noida to Greater NOIDA, they just could not get the installation done...after 2 months of struggle I just gave up and ask for disconnection and ask for the refund of amount in my account.
Horror horror...they bluntly refuse to pay my money back!
So I lost around 2k.


All providers are from the same breed - some are somewhat better, some worse - but the margin of difference is not all that much. When it comes to customer care, TataSky seems to be the best of the lot.

If they were unable to give you connection then they have to refund. There is no question about this. Why did you not fight for refund? What reason did TS give for not refunding and not providing service?

Well said, TS is best but due to their high prices and less HD channels people are moving to Videocon. My annual renewal is due on May, still I am double minded even 90:10. I guess I will stay with TS.

well the reason they gave is that its not company policy to refund the amount and offered "priority" installation which never happened. I wanted to file a case in consumer court but I was going through some personal emergency..so could not. Lesson learnt never recharge more than the minimum.

i have been using videocon d2h hd and videocon d2h ddb led tv, videocon d2h has excellent picture and audio quality, cheap package pricing, great aftersales

Another shock from Airtel, yesterday I noticed some of the channels I subscribed(2 years back) are showing error code 4(not subscribed). Tried calling their customer care on their toll free as well tolled numbers but it took more than 1 hour to reach them! Two times call got disconnected during the conversation.

Airtel's response for removing some channels was 'we increased the subscription charges for your package' LoL. I did receive an SMS few days back saying my subscription charge is increased from 158 to 175. They didn't mention anything about changes in package. When I asked about this the executive started repeating the same that the channels are no longer part of my package.

Today I got response on the complaint I put on Airtel Presence page on Facebook that Airtel is free to add or remove channels and its not their responsibility to inform the same to their customers. As always 'Customer is Fool'.

This is the standard part of "Terms & Conditions" - a part of the fine print.

Not just Airtel, all DTH players will tell you that they reserve the right to modify packages as per their own business practice and convenience.
