Airtel DTH -Shifting - Any Experiences..

Anyone is having any experience of shifting Airtel STB?

Case - My brother at Goregaon East Mumbai shifting his residence where he will be forced to opt for Tata Sky or Cable ..He has airtel High Def STB .
I want to shift that to my residence at Sanpada , vashi Navi Mumbai

1) Is it possible? What shall my brother have to tell? Do they ask whether he is staying there?
2) Do they give new antenna? Or whose responsibility to remove the antenna? Is that easily removable?
3) Any costs estimation?
4) Is this exercise worth doing? If shifting charges are too high then maybe not

BTW bro got Airtel STB free on Samsung LCD . When I saw it had HDMI -also Co Axial digital out.Does it have 5-1out?

I have 2 cisco SD boxes- I am ok as I do not watch TV

1. Yes, it's possible. Your brother need to call customer care number telling, he would like to shift the DTH connection to another residence. Customer care executive will ask new address details after account verification and then an appointment will be booked.

2. Generally they move the same antenna and STB. So the customer can carry it to new address if the shifting is in same city. In case of another city, (I think) they keep the antenna and may place a new antenna to new address, but they don't change the STB of-course.

3. I shifted 1.5 years back and I was charged Rs. 200 for Antenna Removal from old address and Rs. 300 for installation at new address. If possible, you can remove the antenna and wires at your own. But I recommend to get installation done by Airtel guys only, because it needs proper alignment and direction set-up and all.

4. Overall shifting charges comes around Rs. 500. But they charge extra amount for extra wire in case you need for new installation.
One more thing, Airtel will not change the STB owner's name in any case. (that will remain in your brother's name only.) However you can update the registered mobile number as your own.

Airtel does provide 5.1 sound on few HD channels through either Co-axial or optical output from STB.
