Hello everyone. I am considering to setup rpi3 + kali + piano 2.1 for my bedroom tower speakers (also could be used occasionally with my car amp for better sound). But there is one question that I can't seem to find an answer to is that how is this setup purely in terms of sound quality as compared to dedicated dacs or daps like from fiio, dragonfly, cayin n3 (really tempting).
Has anyone ever had the opportunity to listen to both and compare?

That is exactly what I was looking for. Would be very helpful if you could do it. Will stay in touch with you.I have a Fiio DAC and an X3 older dual DAC model. I can test it once my setup arrives and do a AB comparison. I would recommend using the VOLT or VOLT+ amp since that takes up much less space.
Once my setup comes, I will review
Pi->Kali->Piano->VOLT
Sparky->Kali->Piano->VOLT
Pi->Kali->Piano->Norge 2060
Sparky->Kali->Piano->Norge 2060
Also @kane could share some more light on this as he is already using the setup

Hi. Can you please direct me to where rpi+kali+piano 2.1 can be bought for around 8k? I am unable to find a good deal.I have compared the Allo combos with the S.M.S.L M8a dac and i find them both comparable.
Sparky/RPI >>>Kali>> Piano2.1 cost around 8k
S.M.S.L M8a cost around 15k
sound wise both are outstanding. but with the RPI you get a micro computer as well also if you use the PurePath Studio software you can custom tune your sound output as well

Well the prices on fabtolab.com have additional gst and shipping charges so works out to be quite high. Though the coupon of allo.Com may prove to be helpful.look out for deals on combos
https://allo.com/sparky/bundle-kali-piano-2-1.html
they ship out from bangalore so no worries here to buy from their us site
use code DIET10 to get 10% discount

Hi debzkool, Did you manage to compare Fiio X3 and Pi+Piano 2.1 combination ? I am mainly looking for a hi-res audio player to connect to stereo amp so this comparison would help me.I have a Fiio DAC and an X3 older dual DAC model. I can test it once my setup arrives and do a AB comparison. I would recommend using the VOLT or VOLT+ amp since that takes up much less space.

To anyone who is interested - Allo Piano 2.0 in Dual mono is pretty good.
