Try them with a little high powered NAD / Marantz amp. Use some good silver based speaker cables and interconnects. Hope you are placing them on stands and not on floor/shelf?

Thou they are front ported it is better to leave some decent space behind the speakers.

Right now they are on a pair of wooden stools , got to find stands as well. Have give them enough space to breathe in.

I guess Marantz would make them screechy bright and feel NAD would be the right pair for them. Let me see if I am getting a good deal on a pre-owned NAD.

I don't know why people say rear ported downhand should be kept away from the wall,

My rear ported speaker benefits greatly when placed as close to the wall as possible.

I agree. You can do pretty much anything you want in terms of placement till you find what works best. And I do believe in moving them till you find the sweet spot. My personal observation has been all speakers shine with more breathing space.

akshay jha on the forum offers class A amp - 30W at 45k and 50W at about 60k.. if that helps.. you may use your existing integrated as pre if possible..

maybe the prices can be toned down a bit if you discuss with him

i have not heard Class A but i think you should look at this route ( Indian made Class A ) ( if you are OK wuth unconventional in that sense ) and these will be cheaper than imported class A amps too.

aliather is a member of HFV. he sent me the pics that you see on the link about a month back when i was looking for speakers. Quoted 85k then. I am surprised the Usher Be718 has dropped in value so much ( a new one at that ).

If you see pics and i hope he is reading this - the placement is very bad and so is the combo of this amp.

I wonder why ARN sold him this at the first place. Maybe srifhar can chipin here..
