I have wifi at home. I have a TV and a BD player which are wifi-ready (that is these devices can receive internet through usb lan adapters). The problem is, the proprietary usb wireless lan adapters sold by sony and other such companies is either not available or (more importantly) ridiculously expensive.

I understand that there are interesting alternatives available in these situations. What would members here be trying in our Indian situation? I would be glad to get help and advice.

Thanks in adance.

Yes I think there are third party usb wifi adapters which work with some brands of TVs. Try and look for a thread in the forum where I remember some FMs have posted the model/link to the wifi adapters which work with specific Sony/samsung TVs. Also you can look into the net for the same. Before ordering any particular model do check out in the net if somebody was/is successful to make the Tv internet enabled. Best of luck.

Do they have LAN ports? Then wifi bridge can be an option

haisaikat,
Yes. my BD player and TV both have rj45 ports. I am looking for an adapter/converter which would plug into this rj45 port and receive wifi. Any help?

what i'm using to connect my avr is this one by netgear - WN2000RPT.works pretty well.

stillsearching,

Can you please tell me something more about this device of yours? I am specifically looking for something that would receive wifi and output it to to my TV and BD player through RJ45 cable and receive.

Thanks in advance.

I think you should look at wifi bridge that haisaikat suggested in the earlier post. Its a wifi adapter pairs with an existing wifi router (over wifi) and has RJ45 ports to connect to your TV and DVD player etc.,

DLink DAP-1522 or Cisco Linksys WET610N are two wifi bridges

But a word of caution, streaming high def (10GB+) movies may sometimes stutter and hence the best option is if you can draw a cable between your router and HT setup

ooops !!!! sorry i thought i'd posted link. here it is - WN2000RPT | WiFi Range Extenders | Networking | Home | NETGEAR - the netgear is connected to my pioneer SC LX86 with an RJ45 CAT5 lan cable as is my Oppo BDP 83 bluray player. - from netgears website "WiFi Range Extender boosts your existing WiFi home coverage and allows you to connect up to 4 wired devices like Smart TVs, gaming consoles to your wireless network. It works with any standard router or gateway and enables a better WiFi connection for laptops, home theater devices, smartphones and more. "

shivam, stillsearching, hitchhawk and others,

WNCE3001 (netgear) seems to be device I am looking for (look up the link shivam has attached). It is not available on Flipkart. Can anyone mention a respectable online store from which I can buy this. I think this device is a little pricey. Would be grateful if one of you could mentioned the right price now.
Thanks all for helfpull suggestions.

To all posters on this thread,

placed an order for TP-LINK TL-MR3020 Portable 3G/3.75G/4G Wireless N Router with flipkart.
