Onkyo 3500 comes with 5.1 speaker set, so why do you want to buy Pioneer speakers separately?

With 2 lacs budget, you will have lots of option. Go separate is what most FMs here will suggest you.

For better response, tell us the size of your room, your preference (movies: music) and what kind of source you want to use (bluray, stb etc.)

Hi Dr.Chinnam,

Before buying a HT system, it is wise to go for an audition, to get a general feel of various setups.
There are a few places in Hyderabad where you can request for a demo.

Regards

I would really like you to consider the option of projector.
In that budget, you really shouldn't go with HTiB. As RMCWS suggested go for separates.
Here we can only suggest you the available rigs out there that are worth considering based on our experiences but it should be you who go out, get demo and decide for yourself which do you like.

Don't buy blindly based on reviews. Reviews should be your starting point not the decisive point.

Good luck!

Since you have a good budget, you should not go for HTiB.

As RMCWS said HtiB has its own speakers, no need for separate speaker package.

Go for separates. Which means a good AVR like Denon AVR-X2000 which is a 7.1 receiver. Then audition speakers, which will you prefer floor stander or book shelves ? You have a lot of choices. Polk, Wharfedale, even the pioneers you mentioned SP-PK52FS are quite good. But you have to demo them to know if the synergy between the AVR and the speaker is good to your ears.

What is your room dimension ?

If you are planning to use Panasonic viera exclusively with HT system, then I also suggest go for a projector which will give you more immersive experience.

thanks RMCMS...
i heard that bookshelf speakers and floor stander speakers give better HT experience whereas Onkyo speaker set donot have those......

thanks Koushik,
i will definitely get a demo and decide, but i want to narrow down my search to few models before i go for a demo.....

As stated above, I concur.

1. Panasonic 50ST60: very difficult to find; no stocks anywhere (in India)
2. DMP-BDT220: Again difficult to find. 2012 model. Even in 2012 it was not easily available (in India)
3. & 4. TV and BDP (alternate models/LED) will consume about 130K. In 70K, you can get a better option with separates.

hi Rupam,
though i have kept a budget of 2 laks,i m trying to decrease it to 1.5 lakhs.....my room is pretty medium sized so i am guessing HTiB would be sufficient for starters. I heard denon Receivers are not as good as ONkyo for Movie experience?my use will be mostly watching movies.

hi Just4kix,
can u please suggest me some good combinational separates which include bookshelf and floor stander speakers for watching Movies?

Actually I am not an expert on sound - basically I am not an expert on anything - most of my posts are just experience.

I think that if you go with any receiver from Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha having 90~100W RMS per channel (no more than 35K) and 5.1 speakers set such as Boston Acoustics (about 35-40K), you will be good to go.

Hi All, I am very new to this forum. But have been following it since more than couple of weeks now. Very interesting read.

Dr. Chinnam / Anybody, could you please let me know where are you planning to buy the Pioneer SP-PK52FS in India ?

Thanks very much.

Denon and Onkyo receivers are quite comparable, but Onkyo probably has better ASS, at least I found Onkyo ASS excellent. Marantz is one notch above.

If you want a pleasing PQ while watching movies, go for panny Plasma. - You will ever seen such PQ in your life in any cinema theaters. (Hunt for Panny plasma if not available easily) BUT, it will lack of immersion compared with BIG Screen using projector.

If you need immersion on movies, I would suggest go for PROJECTOR. (Mostly can not be used for watching TV programmes, best suit for watching movies only).

Hey doc, why don't you give your room size! Good suggestions need full details. There are a lot of projector threads on this forum at a wide range of budgets. Go through them. For the price of the Panny plasma you can get a fab projector even the much loved Epson 6100. There is simply no comparison. I use a projector for movies at 12 feet on an 80" wide screen and I wish I could have it bigger!
Your budget provision is quite one sided. Do not think that the visual aspect is more important than the aural aspect. Give equal or more budget to the audio components.
