Hello Guys, I started my so called audiophile journey a while back not knowing what to expect. Initially I thought of setting up a HT based system and had a budget of around 50k.I spent some time on this forum, jumped the gun and bought a denon 1612 with Polk TSI400 Speakers. I was instantly hooked to the sound and thought I was done. But later when I spent more time in this and other forums, I began to see what I was missing in my setup. I was not able to pick out the different instruments while playing tracks and the whole soundstage was restricted. I even tried with some good quality recordings but the situation did not improve. Then I began the hunt for a proper stereo setup. In the meantime just to have a taste of two channel setup, bought a pair of Dayton B652 speakers with Indeed TA2021 based amp. The sound quality improved, but not that much. Meanwhile I started researching the net for the speakers and amplifier. I resisted the temptations to buy things impulsively and sent umpteen mails to speaker dealers throughout India and some respected FM's . I was also actively scanning olx and quikr for some deals. A couple of months had passed and I found that a well respected FM was selling his EP CS3's. I didnt contact him at that time , but kept an eye on that thread and was surprised that nobody bought those even after 2 months,by that time I was able to save up some hard earned money and contacted him and made an offer. So to make the long story short the EP CS3s are on their way home, but I am still confused about the amp. I have also contacted Sridhar seeking out his advise and currently these are my options

1. A cheap Marantz4023 receiver which has the pre out main in so that I can connect the Behringer equalizer with it
2. An odyssey khartago amp with a passive pre
3. Odyssey Kismet extreme amp with passive pre. This may drain my pocket even more but it can be bought :)
4. Jaton Pre Power combo
5. Nad 375 or NAD 372
6.Wyred4Sound Mini Integrated amp

So need opinions on any pre power combos that will sound good with the CS3's. Budget can be extended up to a max of 1.5L. I read somewhere that since the speakers are that good, the different amps may not make that much of a difference, so I need your valuable and honest opinions please. I am planning to set this up in a 12*18 room. The speakers have a high sensitivity of 95Db so wattage wont be a problem. Also anyone willing to let go of their pre power combos are free to contact me

option no 3 without any doubt or a sl integrated if it can come in your budget

If i am not wrong fm sameer kumar was also using a sl amp to drive these speakers

Also go for a decent sourcee

The SL integrateds are great if you can afford them. The CS3's efficiency in reality isnt 95dB since its equalised its lower in reality. The EPs have a specific signature - live, very open and dynamic. these qualities dont change irrespective of the amp. A NAD will also drive it reasonably well. The tweter is a pro tweeter and can tend to sound a bit metallic so preferably dont go for a pre power that can sound cold but rather something on the warmer side. For the source, you are better off going with a source that is slightly rolled off in the highs rather than something that sounds extended but with glare.

cheers

Will the Kismet be too bright and revealing , I am initially planning to use CA DACMagic as the source which tend to be on the brighter side.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
