Any downsides to importing a TV from the US other than not having warranty?

A cousin of mine is due to come to India in a few weeks and was thinking of asking him to bring the LG OLED55C6P Curved 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart OLED TV which I'm getting at a low price of $1500. With extra baggage and customs duty I dont think expect it to cost me more than $2300 altogether. Am I missing out or something and will there be any incompatibilities?

From what I know oled models are dual voltage, just confirm by looking at manuals

The TV is $1500. Customs duty will be another $525. About $200 for extra baggage. Its still only $2225 which is still a steal. ~1.53l as opposed to 2.5l in the market.

Check the customs website. I kinda remember there is extra duty for screens bigger than a certain specified size - most probably 32"

A relative brought a high end Samsung 2-3 years ago. Had to put ntsc to pal converter for tata sky which does affect quality to some extent. He brought good quality voltage converters but there is a little humming sound.

But it's working fine otherwise.

Possible issues with TV import from US:-
1. PAL support
2. Voltage level
3. Warranty and service
4. Shipping costs and associated risk
5. Customs - This is on cost as evaluated by Customs dept!

The way in ehich they handle bigger packages is horrible. You cant do anything if its broken. Warranty is a big thing. It is really stupid to buy a tv without warranty.

Always avoid fragile items and no warranty outside usa, when it is more than 500$. If everything goes well on your imported items, then you need to buy voltage converter..etc So better buy comprehensive OLED TV at india and any electronics doesn't have any value, when it is getting old.
