I think this is a must have for all us Vinyl Lovers! This is just the App your Vinyl collection needs :ohyeah:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/milkcrate/id649659128?mt=8

Of what little I've read, I think one can organize his personal collection and by doing this you get all related details of the record. I think a free signup is required with Discogs.

Detailed Features:

- Search records info using the Discogs.com database
- Robust barcode scanner
- Offline wantlist/collection viewing
- Detailed release info(notes, format, credits, company and etc.)
- Get lost between labels, artists and/or remixers for hours just like on Discogs website
- Browse/search your entire wantlist/collection
- Manage your wantlist/collection
- View record current market value
- Share record info with your friends(Email/SMS)
- Save album cover to your photo album

Note: Apple only :indifferent14: however Music Library for Android guys :). Can be used for other formats as well apart from Vinyl.

I am going to try this later tonight for sure!

Cheers...

is there something I can put on my computer to catalogue my LP collection?

would be very nice to have some kind of a catalogue with title, tracks and maybe, some info on the band, on the release, etc.

Yes, Reuben, I would also like to use such an app. Excel leaves something to be desired.
On my site Welcome to the Madam Noorjehan Website I had used a music collection plugin for joomla which was useful.
Interestingly android has an mp3 player app called Retro Record Player (Vinyl) which gives a TT look and feel. It can develop into something good.

There appear to be some desktop apps like VinylManager mentioned here:-http://softadvice.informer.com/Program_For_To_Manage_Vinyl_Records.html
Should try them.

Using this App is nothing but cataloguing your record collection online. When you feed in basic details of your record it automatically adds most details of the record. Now the question is will we be able to extract that report onto excel? If not even if we can copy paste that data it will be great.

Dint get a chance to test the App last evening. Should give this a shot in the next couple of days.

Cheers...

I tried using Vinyl Manager a bit today and its decent. Its not very good for Indian Records as its more artist focussed than album focussed but there are ways around it. Wish its help was in English though :)

Vinyl manager has a collection viewer for android. In my view, updating database is easier on a desktop. One can add albums from discogs too though I didn't try it as am entering for 78s first

Cheers, thanks for posting. I am a huge Discogs user for buying and cataloging my collection, so this will come in handy!

It may sound silly but I fail to understand the purpose of this app for vinyl.

I have about 500 LPs left with me at present and I have stacked them alphabetically based on artists and some broad categories (Indian classical, western classical, English, Bollywood). I know which albums I have and remember their covers too.

It's so that you can pretend that you have the convenience of selecting and playing them, like digital files, without moving from your chair

Seriously, though, I guess that some people have thousands of recordings, and others just like listing things in databases. Some of those (not me!) would actually get around to keying it in in the first place.

Why the phone, though? I suppose just because some are surgically attached to their phones. I don't even carry mine around the house.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
