I listened to couple of songs using the lightning adapter to my amp and speakers and with 2 headphones. To me, I prefer the Orginal versions of the songs I tried more than the “modified” versions. Many songs have some kind of artifacts, on their attempt to make everything more “spacious”. So for me, the lossless part of the update is more interesting than atmos gimmick. I don’t know if it’s any better with AirPod pro and AirPod max. But what I noticed is, slightly reduced treble in most songs, and thin bass. It reminded me of a 2.0 to 5.0 up conversion which my old NAD receiver had pushing vocals to center channel and instruments to side. Sometimes the algorithm used to fail and had lot of artifacts and weird effects. I seriously wonder if these music was originally Dolby atmos mastered or they remixed it in atmos. I suspect it’s the later as it sounded weird to me.

Does anyone know when this lossless tier is being launched in India? Been endlessly checking but no concrete answer anywhere
Try to download any Diana Krall album, it will download in lossless. I tried with and without vpn. Califirnication by RHCP also downloaded as lossless , 780 MB. So, lossless is already available, but not for all albums. Downloaded just for curiosity, as I have Tidal which clearly sounds superior.

Can you share the album link here? I tried but not downloading any lossless versions.

For those who’ve been following this thread, I am getting audio quality options under music, so lossless is fully functional, I hope. (Playing a lossless hires right now).

Is that on an Indian Apple account on a phone that’s in India?

I’ve iPhone SE 2. I’m still not getting the option for the lossless. I’m from India. Ive latest iOS (14.6) and Music is up to date.

Ss

First time, the vpn was on, I turned it off, restarted the iPad and I still get the option. Yes, Indian account.
So when the VPN was on, did you use a non-Indian Apple account to jump start? Or it worked with an Indian account from the word go?

Oh Come on Guys, I don't understand what is the rush all about? You're behaving like people who Q up for new iPhone on release date! Let there be a Apple Lossless Human Trial on Audiophile Guinea Pigs of North America and Europe first... Once it reaches certain level of maturity , Apple will release it in India.

It's not reasonable to Expect the initial version of any Apple Offering to be perfect. Historically, It holds true for most of their devices. So Keep Calm and Relax, Listen to Tidal Turkey instead!!

Of course, we have Tidal and other services. It is just curiosity, nothing else plus the UI is much better than Tidal with lyrics support. I hate Tidal’s UI. Further, Apple is the first service about to provide lossless to Indian subscribers without needing to bypass or circumvent the restrictions, at an affordable price. So, it may matter to many people here who wont need to do the workaround with Tidal, etc.
