Hi,

I have gone through the various threads posted on this forum.

I have realised that there are many issues reported by LG owners of panels, spots, etc. compared to Samsung & Sony.

I myself have inspite of that gone ahead & purchased a LG LD550 yesterday. Please suggest is it a good model and are there really any issues with LG as none of the showrooms i visited had any negative comments about LG. They said LG & Samsung were at par.

Please shed some light!!!

Ranjit,
No manufacturer can boast zero defect products...the moot point is are they ready to back their product in terms of reliable and efficient service.

From this perspective, my experience with LG service has been exemplary...I have owned their 47 inch LED for over a year now....and am quite happy with the ownership experience!

LG after sales service is very good. If you find some defect in your TV and report it immediately they should replace it without any hassles. I'm afraid I can't say the same about their quality control as quite a few members have reported problems with new pieces. But they have all had them replaced.

Lg sells extended warranty for TVs. Do get 3 year additional warranty. That is because replacing the panel costs nearly same as buying a new TV.

Hey thanks all you guys for your reassurance..

Already have a fridge, microwave,AC from LG..hence went for the same brand but seeing all the negativity on this forum hence was a bit concerned...

I asked as croma offers there own extended warentee which is cheaper than manufacturer.
BTW I found croma prices are higher....

croma prices are nonsense they just dont budge from their "croma offer" price, just pathetic. when i told them that for same model big bazaar is giving 5 k discount . they said they would give me dvd player lol

Franckly go to croma just to see Demo but dont buy from them unless u want extended warranty.

They said LG & Samsung were at par.

They are correct mostly.
The failure rate could be more for LG but the replacement rate and the overall customer service beats samsung.

LG problems are mostly niggles. You will be put in a dilemma whether to call the CC. If you are ready to overcome this dilemma and call the CC and follow-up. They fix it mostly.

With Samsung, it is '1' or '0' kinda problems. Either the TV works great or it goes kaput. It doesn't happen mostly but if it happens, you are in soup. If it happens within the warranty though, you are in lesser soup (as though it means somthing :)).

Do you buy the warranty from the retailer or LG ? The retailer did not
push for one (they usually do if one is available since it represents pure profit for the manufacturer on a mature product).

I was a fan of LG, but have heard a few complaints recently. With faith in them i purchased a fridge on Dassera after a couple of days the door gasket came off. Had to make two phone calls to get the engineer at my door.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage Speakers in Red Mahogany finish at a Special Offer Price. BUY now before the price increase.
