anybody watches chinese/japanese/korean movies?

i love them to death. from the old school wu xia, kurosawa etc to the newer south korean chan wook park, bong joon ho etc to the jap carnage/gore flicks like machine girl etc. any following for these in desh?

i normally order these off from amazon uk or usa. but any local sources for getting these?

Not much but watched few cantonese movies - "In the line of duty" series where Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Khan and Cynthia Rothrock kick bad guys.
 
yeah i like asian movies, they are very extreme and most of the hollywood horror movies are remakes of asian movies.
 
At least some here watch asian movies. If you check the long Movies thread, you are sure to come across them. I've watched many of Kurosawa's films & few of the horror originals that hollywood managed to absolutely water down (and just to add...when I was younger many kungfu films and Jackie Chan films :p).

Any recommendations if I liked "Ichi the Killer"? ;) (Have already watched "Audition")
 
You can watch Thirst (Korean). Excellent vampire movie which is not cliched (its not Blade is what I mean). Also try Chaser (Korean), Shutter (Thai?) and the Host (Korean). I'll post more if I can think of them. I think the Asians do horror/thriller really well and Asian women are incredibly pretty :)
 
Watched "Shutter" already and that horrible Hollywood re-make that wasn't even half good :(. Will catch up with the rest once I get my 'movie express' going. Post more when you have time.
 
How about the Ip Man series? Excellent martial arts. A Tale of Two Sisters (Korean), High Kick Girl, Sex is Zero (Korean). These are the ones I can think of right now. Will update as I find some more good ones.

Thirst was twisted man ...seriously ...... It was made with so much conviction and ground reality that you actually start believing in vampires ........Shutter was ok for me and Host was pretty good as well.

I can suggest zillions if I can remember all, but few of my all time favs are ...

1. Battle Royal
2. Assembly (AWESOME)
3. Brotherhood of war (another awesome)
4. City of life and death (blew my sock off)
5. A Bittersweet Life

That was not links to downloads, it was to a forum where I found some asian movies. Now when everybody is downloading 1080p/720p rips, I wonder how many of them are legel. Anyway edited my post. Mods my appologies if was against forum rules.

here are some suggestions to get you started (apart from those already mentioned and other popular ones known everywhere like 'crouching tiger') :

korean :

1. memories of murder
2. city of violence (you can even get it in india)
3. tazza the high rollers (easily one of the greatest movies i have ever seen!)
4. public enemy (trilogy)
5. old boy (from 5 to 7 the revenge trilogy - same director as 'thirst')
6. sympathy for mr vengeance
7. sympathy for lady vengeance
8. the host (available in india)

japanese :

1. movies by "beat" takashi kitano
2. sword of doom (available in india)
3. most movies by akira kurosawa


chinese :

1. gangster flicks by johnny to
2. warlords (starring jet li)
3. internal affairs trilogy (on which scorcese's 'departed' is based)
4. movies by wong kar wai
5. movies by chen kaige (i just saw 'emperor and assassin - amazing!!!)

I Saw Devil I Saw the Devil (2010) - IMDb
Its the Revenge Flick at its best. One will get into movie right from the first scene.

A Bittersweet Life A Bittersweet Life (2005) - IMDb
This got another amazing performance from Byung-hun Lee. Our Bhatts copied scene to scene from this movie and made Awarapann,but its no where near to original

Its another Action flick with Interesting story line.

a bittersweet life is one of my all time favorites.

yesasia.com seems very overpriced. you can get most of these dvds shipped at half the price on amazon.uk or ebay (usa or uk).

Hello, thanks for the co-operation.

What we do in the privacy of our homes (viewing illegal media) is upon ourselves and Im not being a hypocrite. But links on a public forum tends to become problematic for the forum if there is a legal intervention. The other website sharing links will eventually be shut down.

^^ Thanks, no 2,3,4 all are war movies and after seeing those I was like ....who says "saving private ryan" is the best action war movie ....... all of the three blows SPR right of the bat.
