Aspects other than size in smart tv

Can anybody tell me that what are the important factors which decide which smart tv to purchase? :licklips:

buying Smart TV is truly waste of money. Just get normal LCD/LED TV. add a media player (apple TV or WD media player), any TV will become smart..
media player will give lot of other flexibility as well.

Looking at the title, i thought about any newly added Aspect ratio for picture size in a smart tv apart from 16:9. Lol...:lol:

Since the OP mentioned "smart" I must add two point
1. Ability to connect to internet (through Wifi Adapter), LAN port availability is even better
2. App Store / App MArket concept for downloading recent apps
3. (May be a subset of 2), having a UPnP client built / downloadable, like some Sony TVs come with built in Plex client and Panasonic TVs come with their own UPnP client. This is very useful if you want to quickly view some home networked content and can save you hasstles of turning on HTPC, Media player etc. I do this for TV shows mostly.

another good thing i found about internet enabled TVs (smart TVs) that its remote can be integrated into your android phone or iphone. so you can get rid of so many remotes and control them through phone..

Are you asking this question because your looking forward to buying a Smart TV?

For me picture quality and after sales service/warraty are the most import factors while choosing a TV. Sound quality comes next and smart tv features would just be an added bonus.

why to search a smart tv...

Essential requirments for TV

1) Atleast 2 or more HDMI port
2) AV (Composite Port) for SD devices

Primary job of TV is display. One need to make sure it excels in this. All other features (smart and non-smart) shall be secondary and non vital.

Everything has a price. Even a USB dongle needs to be bought from the manufacturer and would not be compatible if bought elsewhere. I found that USB dongle for LG smart TV costs around Rs.3000/- which needs to be bought from LG only.

Another interesting feature for smart TV + smart phone combo.. actually you dont need media player like apple tv or wdtv. if you can install zappotv app on your iphone or android phone. it is more than sufficeint for all requirements. it can stream all media from internet on your internet connected TV through smartphone..
so buying a internet connected TV is not a bad idea.
you can get rid of TV remote. you dont need media player.
your smartphone becomes media center.
