Hey Can someone tell me how do I get the dolby TruHD from this player?
I have a movie with Dolby TruHD sound but I am not getting the TruHD in my Onkyo 3400 Receiver.
Instead it shows PCM.

I tried changing the option to RAW and LPCM outputs in player but no luck.
Any help ??

I was exactkly searching this same problem...I have a 3400....planning to buy hdp r1 now my concern is the same..will it raw output bitstream into onkyo 3400 and will the onkyo decode it properly...
btw gajjala do you get true hd from ur sony 380 at onkyo 3400 when u play and select bitstream in sony 380 .

about ur present problem check the sound format in the downloded file..in a pc..size of the file??not all dowloded files have true hd sound...

anyway this exact case happens in my onkyo 3400 and a nameless media player so I was thinking to buy hdp r1
btw cant ur sony 380 play all usb files??

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying this thing, but there's one feature very important to me. I would like it to be able to play 1 video continuously without there being an asus screen or such when the video begins again. So my question would be whether there is a notieable "switch" when the video is started again?

Thank you,
Matyas

@pavan547: Can you write more about the torrent downloading part?
Does it have any scheduler where I can define the start and end time?
I would like to know if it supports that before I decide to buy this.

@vakharia I haven`t checked the scheduling part but I found something here

I am moreover a 24x7 downloader so after transmission trial I moved back to my current download rig.

I was quite concerned at yet not sure that this will be good in case of power up & number of torrents active parallaly.

The player is good for htpc replacement, with moservices you can have better outcome/performance.

Let me know if you have more queries?

So, with R3 firmware we can do the following:
*Install some BitTorrent client (Transmission?) and allow it to download to a USB hard disk (500GB/ NTFS). (Android based sticks cannot deal with 4GB+ files it seems)

If yes, then this is a good option.

Edit: Found this link:
https://sites.google.com/site/farvoice/about_en
It talks about the 4GB download problem.

@vakharia the advantage of using moservices is they have html interface to install transmission etc. all other 24x7 downloading device (routers, pogoplug, nas) install transmission using linux code. I gave up that as I coundn`t do much using the code.

Changing R1 firmware to R3 is advantages with improved GUI and moservices

Thanks. But if this Asus device has problem with copying 4GB files onto NTFS USB drives, then I have to rule it out. See link I posted above.

So am I nuts, or is this the worst unit ever for simply playing a music library? I have both an external USB HD and a network folder visible to the unit, but it fails to play shuffled music.
I really just want to hit the "Music Button" on the remote and play music. But I am forced to go through the menu each and every time, hoping that the unit won't crash (and it does ~50% of the time), hoping not to be sent back to Home Screen (~35% of the time) .
I just want this damn thing to see my music and play my music. Nothing more. I don't want to have to navigate into each and every directory and play an individual song. I want to find the entire library and shuffle through it.
Is there a way to do this? Please? Anybody?

Hi Im new here. I have had the HDP R1 for a few years... never had a problem. Decided to update the firmware and since then can't get the oplay to recognize my drive. It says Detecting and then it says Device not recog anybody have any ideas?... the drive always worked perfectly till the update. It also works great on my computer.

I have bought the Asus O Play R3 and I am quite satisfied with it. However I am unable to get the unit to display the time elapsed while playing a file. Is there any setting that has to be tweaked to get the elapsed time. TIA
