Have a crackling/popping sound when the TV starts-up through the HDMI eARC /Optical connected to my audio system.
Tried two different audio players and cables but same issue.
Seems to be a handshaking on startup .
Settings for audio on TV is Audio processing off, Advanced Settings -> Digital Audio = PCM, DTS DRC off.

Its a google TV and the noise chatter occurs just when TV manufacturer logo is switching to Google TV logo and before the complete startup of the Google TV. Its a TCL 55P755 Pro TV, the TV customer care is not being very supportive as there is no response on the cause of the issue.

My TV is connected to an external amplifier that is stereo, 2 channel and can’t process Dolby / DTS etc. So I have setup the audio of digital audio to PCM. However the TV seems to be performing a handshake prior to full boot up to Google TV and on doing so is sending a non PCM or mismatched signal during its boot up handshake with the external audio equipment attached. This is causing the crackling/ popping noise.

This is an issue as the TV should take in the preference of the user audio setting and not be sending any signal prior that can that during boot up to the audio output.

The workaround for now is for me to turn on the audio only after the TV has been booted up. Any mistake in sequence of powering on and setting to input channel causes a a bad crackle, which I am not sure if it impacts my speaker and amp.

What TV are you using? Which model?
Are you turning it off completely or do you leave it on standby via the remote?

I've started doing a little digging into how audio is implemented on TVs.
There doesn't seem to be a standard that everyone follows.
