Audio/Headphone related query.

Hello folks,

I'm more of a consumer than an enthusiast; just a curious one looking forward to some expert opinions.

Music is heavily essential for me and I'm about to spend some dope on it. I'm looking to buy a phone right now and I would like to enjoy music on-the-move.

Query - Would all devices with the conventional headphone jack socket (technically known as the TRS 3.5mm) offer exactly the same audio experience on a descent pair of earphones? (I'm ready to spend a few on buying a good pair of earphones). Or something like an iphone would deliver better (on the same earphones)?
I don't really bother about the speaker output.

All I'm looking for is a good audio experience on-the-move.

Any enlightenment shall be highly appreciated!

Dna, No, all devices with a std 3.5mm hp jack wont deliver the same quality of sound with the same set of earphones. It depends on the Digital to analog converter, headphone amp section of the particular device. It also significantly depends on the media used.

A great portable source would be a Sansa Clip Plus. You have not mentioned your budget for the purchase. According to that members would be able to make recommendations.

Short answer - No. Not the same Audio quality.

Long Answer - An iPhone sounds much better than most other mobile phones in the market today. However, a Sony Ericsson Walkman series is also considered to be good. Another forum member has rightly put is that your music files will have a major role. I use FLAC files with good quality Sennheiser headphones and the result is very enjoyable. The same with poor MP3 files sound much worse. An inclusion of portable headhone amps like Fiio E7, E5 etc greatly improve experience even from an iPhone.
