What/which headphone?

Unfortunately I can't help you, I personally have never found headphones/earphones satisfying. I do own some for some specific uses but don't enjoy them. Good luck.

That's the primary reason I made this post to understand if there is a way to make headphones satisfying enough to splurge money on it.

Try AKG K712 Pro. It's fairly inexpensive, you'd get the Soundstage but the timbre sounds a bit inorganic to me though others have said that it can be rectified by further enhancing the chain, which I take with a grain of salt since it's a studio HP meant to scrutinize recording instead of enjoying musicality, in my opinion.

This is exact reason i find listening to music difficult as I like the stage in front of me and not around me, perhaps the reason I dont like 5.1 music as well !
I have found a "neutral" HP a good reference to check room placement of the speaker though !

any experience with Topping L50 headphone Amp? I might just bite the bullet and buy this. Not too much to loose if this doesn't work out. If anyone has one to sell, just put it in the classifieds so that I can buy it without hifivision loosing on some revenue. Headphone zone has only the black colour. The red colour looks fabulous. I plan to use it with E50 dac / D10 balanced dac.

if it helps, i have L30 and it is just great. drives my planar magnetic to its max potential as per my listening, IMHO. L50 definitely cannot be worse so definitely worth a try
