I purchased Avengers 3D from Flipkart because the price Rs. 1349 was very attractive. Certainly very attactive when it is $34.85+shipping on Amazon.com and 25.00+shipping on Amazon.co.uk. Or so, it seemed.

But let me tell you that I am severely disappointed with the Indian release:

- the package contains just one blu-ray that is in 3D format
- no 2D BD
- no extras, behind the scenes footage
- no director/actor commentaries
- no deleted/extended scenes
- no BD Live! (not that I care too much about that)
- no digital/UV copy (Ok, I was not expecting that either)

The US version is a Four-Disc Combo of Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy + Digital Music Download while the UK Version which is Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray combo.

My advice: wait for the Amazon price to shoot down in a few days and buy from there.

Otherwise I have no complaints against the 3D BD movie (which is excellent). Flipkart delivery service is also very excellent. But I won't be buying Indian made BDs any sooner. Way overcharged in my opinion - for instance Inception is priced at Rs. 1199 (MRP: 1499), for a single BD while a 2 BDc version is $12.99+shipping on Amazon.com and BD+DVD at 8 on Amazon.co.uk.

Does a 3D blu-ray play in 2D on a 2D blu-ray player? And what if you have a PS3 (3D-enabled via firmware update) connected to a 2D TV?

No it won't play. It will say 3D compatible display not found. If the Same blu-ray has a 2D track then you can play it.

That is the business model in india, almost all 3D movies sold here are without 2D versions.

It's a really pathetic from the studios distributing them. Not always you would like to see a movie in 3D only. That's why almost all the 3D releases abroad has a copy of 2D as well. Many a times a DVD included. They should have oncluded the 2D track atleast.

But in India also I have own Tintin 3D & MIB 3D , both released by Sony in a single disc format but has a 2D track included so that if you don't have 3D set up, atleast you can play them in 2D.

Exactly. I was expecting a 3D+2D on a single disc.

What is the difference between a downloaded 3D movie and the one we watch in the 3D blu-ray player? Usually in downloaded one we use the SBS method to view the 3D movie in a 3D display.
