Hi All,

I have been off-the-grid for too long after settling down for a 2.0 setup some seven years back with Paradigm Monitor 7 V6 paired with ONKYO - while looking for an "entry level" 5.1 set-up.

Now, I am on the hunt again, with a very specific narrowed down direction to go about - I am looking for a DEDICATED 5.1 setup under 40,000/- - guess looking at the budget, HTiB seems the way to go for. And NO... I am not going to expand on the current set-up. I need a dedicated one rather than using the Paradigm towers for a dual duty as musical center piece in my stereo set-up as well as FR / FL.

Please shoot at will......

Regards,
Paritosh

Dear Paritosh,
Your budget is with AVR or without?
If with AVR try Yahaha YHT 299, if without AVR you can try - Taga Harmony inMOVE 5.1 or Wharfedale DX-1SE.

Please audition before buy.

Have you checked some of the Sony home theater systems? Some of them have hdmi and digital inputs to connect sources. Otherwise, I am afraid you have to pick one of the htib units from. Yamaha or onkyo.

That's exactly what I'm after my friend - an HTiB from YAMAHA or ONKYO.
Other than the usual suspects - wanted to check whether any new options are available or not.

What's your source going to be? There are a couple of Logitech 5.1 speaker systems which can sound quite good, room size dependent.

Have you heard the htib from Yamaha and onkyo. Yamaha can be heard in reliance digital. Onkyo I am not sure.

I have ONKYO BDP - using it for my 2.0 setup.

Don't the Logitech require an AVR???
AND
key question : are they really THAT good??? I mean comparable to HTiB from ONKYO or YAMAH??

Don't know if Logitech supports True HD or DTS HD? on site it's only showing Dolby Digital & DTS info, no HD.
Oh okay. Did you check the Sony units? Not okay?

I had Yamaha htib speakers for a couple of weeks and I never thought of them ever after giving them away. Having modern decoders with no matching speakers to perform is like putting a fancy engine in a mid segment Hatch back.

At your budget I would try to audition the Logitech unit. Else if you can increase your budget, then look at a higher segment receiver + speaker system, or build a system in phases.

These are the only options I can think off.

Some Sony systems sound good but with limited connectivity and Passive Sub.
Yamaha + have an active sub.
Never listen to Yamaha so can't talk about SQ, what my point is an active should sound better than passive one. which is a important part for movies.

Yes it's always better to audition before buy.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
