Hi
Getting Sony Plasma '43 3D TV in couple of weeks time.
I'd like to know some of your favourite 3D Blu-ray movies.
I like movies with lots of pop out effects.
Also recommend movies like Avatar,Gravity,Titanic etc. [Visually stunning ones]
Main preference is pop out's :ohyeah:

I don't own a 3D Blu-Ray player yet. Might get one by christmas time.
Download-USB is the way I'm thinking now.

Mods,Please move this thread to the appropriate section If needed. :)
I can't find such section better than this.:)

I have found Anime to be more effective than movies.According to your taste you can look at Shigurui(Samurai story-very gorish),samurai champloo(samurai, nice)gundam(robots etc). Otherwise Gravity,Matrix and inception are good bets.

lots of download options for 3d

for stunning vids you might wanna watch some documentaries by Steven McGillivray (IMAX)

animations like avatar have a lot of good 3d pop-out scenes

there are hardly any all the way pop-out movies

also :-

Ultimate 3gs
Deep Sea
World Natural Heritage series (Hawaii, Grand Canyon etc)
Amazing Ocean
Sharks kings of the ocean
Diving in paradise Shark adventures in Thailand
IMAX Sea Rex
The South seas bikini atoll and marshall islands
Cirque du soleil worlds away
Dolphins in the deep blue sea
Fascination Coral Reef
Adventure Coral reef under the sea of egypt
Visions of nature
Your planet an exploration in 3D
Coral reef magic of the indo pacific
IMAX Dinosaurs alive
IMAX Dinosaurs Giants of Patagonia
Space Station 3D
Hubble 3D
Space Junk 3D
IMAX Grand Canyon: River at Risk
IMAX: Born to Be Wild

and the list goes on ...

Actually I feel TV manufacturer seems to be pushing hard on 3D tvs..moreover there are many 3D movies coming out. ..Though the "pop out" or thrown at you gimicks have reduced and "depth" is more of the in thing now a days. Overall atleast in Hollywood perspective I feel 3D movie making has "matured" significantly.

Santy, you need to see some 2x stuff on 3D to know what you have been missing :) It is alive and kicking...

Well, native 3D itself does not impress me much, so absolutely no interest in 2D to 3D conversion. Ofcourse after buying a new 3D TV or PJ, one can derive enough fun watching eye-popping movies like Avatar or Gravity or some animated films. But once the honeymoon is over, the excitement dies down and the perceptions and preferences changes drastically. YMMV though.

Same with me. I have tons of 3D content but after the initial euphoria, i just hate them now.
One thing to the OP, i hate to dampen your excitement but i doubt if you'll really be able to feel much on 43" screen. But if you insist, the best kind of 3D i have watched are the ones that show great depth throughout and not just random popouts. Tintin is a good movie for 3D as is Avatar. "Under the sea" documentary has pretty good 3D too - what with those sea snakes coming out from the screen. But really it is only exciting for a day or two, currently i use it to show off to guests but none of us in the family watch them.

The question I got ask is that how can one really dislike 3D so much after a while ?
I mean, 90% of top hollywood films are now on 3D. So there is no unavailability of newer things to try it out.
I myself watched lots of 3D movies from my friends houses and I'm always so fascinated with the technology. Its over 1.5/2 years now and I'm simply not over it. Infact I'm liking it more now. That's why I'm opting for a 3D tv.
Although the one thing I don't enjoy much is the 2D-3D conversion. Never been good.

3D is still something to look for..Falcon mentioned one movie IMAX-grand canyon..watching that in 3D is just outstanding..I have visited grand canyon recently but how the filming is done and the depth is so real...
Still I should say if you are really want to enjoy 3D you need a bigger screen at least more than 60 in..try to opt for a 3D projector and it will cost less than conventional large LED tvs.

OMG ! great list Falcon21. Thanks a lot!

you're welcome Heart beats!
hope you enjoy the list as much you can
another beautiful & stunnig vid documentary I recently watched is Bears(2014)

@lake1988 ... you're very right about the big screen for 3D depth

MacGillivray Freeman Films are a gr8 watch anyway for both 3d non-3d

yes, 3d is rare interest of videophiles but it can be very addictive

While its quite possibly that we may get bored of 3D, one reason that I feel is unlike conventional 2D you cannot just pop a disc sit on sofa and star watching...need to wear 3D glasses, if active ensuring that they are charged so on...
Though I have a 3D tv for last 2 years...I just have 3 3D movies, but since I also like photography, I am building my 3D photo collection. While even that is not easy, it still help me to bring out the Z axis in photos more easily than having to depend on light shadow combination which good photographers generally do.

Now-a-days most of the good 3d glasses will work for >50 hrs with single charge..so you should be able to watch more than 15 movies at single recharge..even active glasses are very light weight and comfortable to wear..I am using sainsonic 144hz DLP link glasses without any IR emitter as projector itself syncing with the glasses.
But you need to make sure you have enough source material to playback else you will have no use of 3d displays.

I am yet to see any single 3D effect in 2D to 3D converted movies.

Movies which were/are shoots using 3D cameras are another story altogether, you will love the 3D effects and such movies are mostly animated movies. :)

2D TO 3D conversion on any given TV sets is nothing. No matter how big the TV is.
It doesn't really provide any effects.
There are tons of movies/videos/promos/anim to try it out on 3D.
