Best 40 or 42 inch LED TV at a price of 50-65k

Go for sony 40 inch EX650...visit showroom...demo it...check for latest offers.

My prime requirement is best picture quality and best audio quality in this range . Once I went to croma I saw that Sony has a better picture quality than Samsung in SQ channels but in HD i feel Samsung has a bit edge. But I also found that VU televisions looks good on eyes but the audio quality is fairly OK.

Still confused what to go for.

I generally use my TV for watching daily shows , news and sometimes in weekends movies. No other requirement at all. So which one to go for and make it final decision.

I agree go for it is Sony ex 650

I compared sony 40ex650 and samsung 5330r
when watch both tvs simultaneously in Standard Quality Channels like SAB Tv etc Sony had a better picture quality
But when I saw simultaneously in both tvs in High-Definition Channels like Star Plus I saw Samsungs clarity was a bit better than Sony

Anyone knows the current price of Sony 40EX650 in the market. Croma prices are very higher.. Is it better to buy from Alfa Vile Parle ?

What I am asking..sd quality is looking good and hd looking bad..isn't that odd...pls remember sony leds got highest contrast ratio among leds of all manufacturers...

As the saying goes, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder". If you found Samsung better in picture quality, then that is indisputable because that is how you felt or perceived.

But dealers/showrooms set the picture/colour setting in such a way that it accentuates the best for the particular brand. So you should try to judge by neutralizing the scenario a bit:
  • ask the dealer to show the same source
  • take the remote in your hands and then change the picture setting on both TVs to something similar, e.g., "normal" mode
  • check the values for contrast, brightness, colour tint, sharpness, gamma, etc.
  • watch SD more than others because this is what you will end up watching most; choose the TV that is best for SD
Sony prices are quite predictable. They are usually 3~5k less than the price published on the website for the range that you are looking at. Sony is rather strict that way. Samsung prices are more flexible and depends upon the dealer and how much discount he can offer.

I think you should check out LG, Panasonic and Toshiba brands also. Do not stick to Croma only - visit Reliance Digital, e-Zone, etc.

Bought the Samsung UA40EH5330R (40" LED TV with Ethernet connectivity) in Samsung/Panjagutta showroom for 56K just before the Independence Day. With VideoconD2H HD STB, it channels are pretty decent to watch. Btw, my favourite program is Australian Master Chef in StarWorld HD.
