Best bookshelf speakers under $2000

The Omen Bookshelf is designed for those of us who need speakers on a shelf, but still insist on great sound. Omen bookshelf offers a similar level of performance as the floor-standing Omen but with a little less in the bottom end.

Omen Bookshelf delivers on the performance, all that Zu driver goodness and machined aluminum suggests. Our objective for the Omen series is simple, create and build loudspeakers that sound amazing, are happy with the majority of amps, with great looks, and at a price that lets every working music head on Earth afford them.

This is sold by Mr. Gunbir in New Delhi.

US $'s 1500/- is the price.

You should manage it under 1 Lac - I assume.

I have not heard this model, but the top end I have auditioned & they were nice.

This speaker may just be 'better' than the Monitor Audio - Gold.

Worth a listen for sure...

The specs are here :-

Hi Bhagwan

Thank you for your reply,

The way u have written seems you are very much familiar with ZU OR u work for ZU.

I have seen the specs. they are very good.
I will go for some audition asap.

Thankful to you for your inputs

Hi Dont think this amp will cut it with quality, transparent speakers. Since you are open to replace the amplifier there are tons of options for book shelf speakers in your budget.
B&W 805s not the new 805D is generally available PRE OWNED in India & on audiogon for around the 1L to 1.25L range. Much much better than 685 and the likes. LESS BOXY. Will need quality amplification.
Ascendo is a very different sound. Have U heard it? I guess you are referring to the single driver BS. I think its the C5.
Totem Rainmaker is a decent BS for 50/55 K. Lovely tone but wont play loud and if one expects solid low end this will dissapoint.
ATC SCM 11. Another good option. With a good powerful amp this can sound marvellous.
Usher BE 718 Pre owned should be well within your budget too.

Naturally U will have to budget for a quality stand too.
There are many more options too. All comes down to what your ears feel is good sound & the kind of music you listen to. Monitor audio and the likes are just average all rounders that are nothing special in my opinion but the plus is that they are very easy to drive and one can partner with average electronics & still GET BY!
Rgds

Hi Dinyaar,

Thank you for your reply,

So, if in case i get b&w 805 used,should it be a real good deal? are b&w speakers really good? just asking generally beacuse they are very popular. Actually i am emphasizing on the quality of the material of the speakers also.

and yes , that was ascendo c5 single driver. after hearing that i felt, no need to for high end gear.
If I go for the speakers like b&w, after sometime I will go for the amps like belles or something else. Do you have any idea about naim nait 5i?
However this is only 50w/channel and belles is 125w/channel

AND YES I STRONGLY NEED SOLID LOW END. actually this shows the real quality of the speakers and amplifiers.

This is me with ZU.

I do not work for ZU.
Infact I am not a lover of the sound.
It is not down my alley of sound;

Essentially, Specs do not mean anything to me;
I am someone that forms an opinion on a product based on performance 100 %
I listen & decide - if I like or do not like.

Therefore, I suggest the same model to all.
Listen - Take a DEMO & then decide - if you like - buy, if you do not like - forget the reviews & move on....

Sir,

I did not like the ZU Speaker - not down my alley of sound.
But many FM's may actually like it.

I am not aware if any person has ZU in Mumbai / India.
I am sure they must have sold - but I am not in touch with persons that have it installed @ their house.....

:D

Can you pin point the reason(s) for not liking them? Which FM's would like them?

You are the man with the 'contacts', hence thought you would know of people having bought 'em, if not from the owners then from Zu Audio themselves.

Sir,
Audio is so personal, 1 mans poison could be another persons nectar;
What I did not like in the ZU, I do not remember, it was many years back, but I do remember that ZU went into the 'basket' of what I did not like;;;;

I do not know enough FM's............
However, I am sure, what the ZU does, many will like. It is just not what I like.

I do not know any person that has purchased the ZU Speakers.
I am also not in touch with the people @ ZU.
Since I did not like the sound, I did not keep in touch with them....

All said, I too am keen to re-visit ZU Sound - if possible.
Will travel in Mumbai to listen if anyone has them installed;

Bhagwan,

I will definately take the audition, however in case if i do not like these, could you please suggest some other bookshelfs. I am focusing on both , sound and quality material of the speakers. low end sound is very important for me.on low volume ,system should sound like behmoth.
