Best Home theater system for 100k

I am about to buy a new audio system for max budget of 1 Lakh rupees. I want to use this sound system for my Living room. My living room is kinda large (700sq.ft).

Things i need :

x An amplifier
x 5.1 Speakers

I am new here, so i hope that i would be guided on this purchase. I will be using this mainly for music.
I expect something that could deliver spectacular bass. Also note that i can't stretch more than 1 lakh.

if the main purpose of the system is to listen to music you will get much better sound quality if you go for a stereo set up rather than a surround sound. you should do some research on this before you jump into surround sound. for your needs a good pair of floorstanders with a stereo amp will match better

My first preference is for music. But I will be using them for movies too. I own a 64' TV. I watch movies occasionally. I thought of FS , but they are almost 200w input but most of the AVRs provide about 100w per channel. Will that be enough for their FS? Moreover my view distance from TV will be the same as the front speakers whichever will be about 10 to 15 feet.

Check hifimart there are lot of combinations to choose from, you will get an idea on the combinations available.

dont worry about the 200w etc. a good 100w amp will easily drive them. there will be a huge difference in sound quality between a 1 lakh surround sound system vs a 1 lakh stereo set up. and if you mainly listen to music then imo you should go the stereo route. you can play surround sound also on it the only difference being that the sound instead of coming out of various parts of the room will come out of the front two speakers.

for a stereo set up you will need a stereo amp and not an avr

im not saying that stereo is the only way to go - just that if youre going surround sound you should go in eyes (or should i say ears) wide open

man 700 sq ft is huge..an avr will just vomit to feel it up.
go stereo amp or power amp way,if your main concern is music.
200w is not a problem....
the speaker will take half that is 100w at just 3 db lower...
but avrs power rating is fishy....go stereo way

To be honest, I am very new to this stereo setup. I have no knowledge about stereo setup. I have been using my yamaha surround setup so if I get an avr I will be some what familiar with them.

avr is fine unless the power comes up..and 700 sq ft is real huge...
thats the point.
there is an option pre out avr-70k and a 5 ch power amp-35k.....which is 105k just for driver....speakers extra!!!!
well for surrounds avr is needed..as your main aim is music so stereo is good.

anyway for a 6 ch set up..avr is must..you have to plan the set up of speakers so that the listner gets max sound...in your room.well i am not an aqustics expert..about the right placement only gurus can guide...

Well my living room is very long. About 400sq ft, will be mainly for entertainment while the rem 300sqft will be occupied for dining .

So which one will you recommend for a 400sq.ft.

I actually planned to Buy an AVR and put it up with Wharfedale DX11. I saw a Combo in hifimart. I thought of using that with my Set topbox, PS3 , iPod and my TV. i Don't know if i can do this setup with a stereo Receiver. Please Correct me if i'm wrong.

some stereo amps come with a sub out. and some also come with A/B speakers output. so you will be able to connect rears though it will not come in surround sound mode so theres not much point. i have seen your pic that you uploaded and two good floorstanders will give you enough sound and enough bass. if you spend on sub you are compromising on the quality of your front speakers

have you listened to any speakers out there. take a listen to the wharfedale diamond series, kef q series and the monitor audio bronze - floorstanders. you will have a better understanding of what youre getting into with a stereo setup

exactly.listen first to know your need.
extra 300 sq ft can be blocked up..using many simple methods..with the help of local mistry...
and finer bs and sub is better than fs for movie..better in the sense economical....as a separate sub is there for lfe..
and just 2 full range covering fs is best for music...no extra sub,centre or rear...6 ch is a curse for music..
but source is also very imp.share your source and player.

streo set aup is strictly for music people...well movies are not bad either(if not best) with just 2 fs...

so you have to decide

amp+fs pair

or

avr +sub+5 speaker

auditio for better understandinmg

if very confused

go a 60k avr................40k fs

buy rest later....

I will be using my ps3 as a player. I will be using my HD set top box with my plasma TV. I might be connecting .

I have planned to buy two fs ,a center channel speaker and a sub.

I'll add SATs if they are necessary later.

Eh wait. I use ps3 only for gaming and playing bluray movies. I'll try to use the dlna feature in avr to play mp3 files.

Will Denon 1713 able to drive the Polk tsi 500 with centre channel?

if we go to FS with internal SW like deftech,is it fine for music and movie ?in that case we have two SW from FS, I think there is no need SW,right ?

however avr is your choice to be run from ps3 via hdmi....
no stereo in your case.
stereo is a classic case of TT/cdp/dac with original audio cd or flacs...
get a little powerful avr like 1912 or 2113..or onkyo 609 to drive fs smoothly..
well theoritcally no difference between even in 1612...26k...120w/ch and 2113...45k...125w/ch......
as 5w is nothing..for a 3db rise power just doubles...
and the other extra feutures.............................................................IMHO JUST A COMPLETE LOSS OF MONEY....only the power matters
maybe i sound lagging of generation or technology......

its your ears...after all the judge
so audition is the key

if going for low power avr....then 1612 is cool..why 1713...its only 26k......with the extra money..buy better spaekers...sound will be very good.
