That is largely because Japanese or any other good horror relies on atmospheric, psychological factor. Hollywood horror, more often than not, resorts to 'shock factor' using effects, shouts, music cues which gets predictable after the first few times. By and large, the essence of what made the original good or great is lost when Hollywood remakes them. Of course there are a few exceptions.

edjames priest i watched this movie in blu ray and can say it is piece of shit ,i can watch anytime with lights off anywhere , nothing scary at all , the story is mediocre .the actor is love with biblical horror movies , but this is one useless movie.

It is an awesome movie!!! They just don't make movies like these anymore... only lots of SFX and lots of big bangs in today's movies.
