Despite all the revolution by LG and other brands like Panasonic and Toshiba, I think my Sony Bravia 3D TV has the best picture quality as compared to these passive 3D TVs. Would like to hear what others think.

Its a matter of perspective. The whole point of going for a 3D TV is just that; 3D. Now theres no debating the fact that Sonys picture quality is one of the best but when it comes to 3D, its active 3D technology is somewhat outdated because it produces constant flicker and those heavy glasses than run through batteries dont exactly help. I have been using an LG Cinema 3D TV for quite some time now and viewing 3D on it through light polarized glasses is a joy rather than an eye-fatigue session usually associated with active 3Ds like Sony and Samsung.

How 3D looks good on a tv is not a deciding factor of pic quality. Contrast ratio, color accuracy, black depth are the factors by which we judge pic quality and LG Cinema 3D lacks all these properties.

You are completely misinformed that active 3D is outdated. People often confuse with the axiom that "if a new technology comes later, it must logically outdate the previous". Active 3D is being used everywhere - 3D movies, 3D projectors, 3D TV, etc.

Now as far as flickering and ghosting goes, active 3D can be a problem especially if the signal is weak, batteries are draining, etc. Not otherwise. It is definitely a pain to recharge or replace batteries in the active 3D glasses.

Yes. I am also a fan of passive 3D but just because passive 3D came into existance later, it is not replacing active 3D. Besides who knows what the 3D world holds in the next three or four years?

So, I will agree with lake1988. Anyone should choose TV because of the inherent qualities. It is unlikely that your 3D watching will exceed 10% of your total viewing time - and I am being very generous here. :)

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
