Best split ac for small room under 25k

I have been using 3 nos Blue Star split A/cs for the past 5 years. Had to get one repaired for cracked pipe in outdoor unit last year which was disappointing.

I also have an old 1 tonne window A/c running without any problems for the last 8 to 9 years.

Of course my usage is minimal - about 2 months in a year in the night time

Contrary to a few members experience with LG, my experience with LG has been pretty bad. One of my AC's is an LG window unit, it conks off in the hottest months in Delhi and has to be let be for some time before it can start. Some members last year had posted good reviews of Sharp, no personal experience with it though.

for the LG window AC i have noticed the same problem and i guess if you have the same issue i found a FIX for it.

is the issue : the comp doesn't turn on inspire of the room temperature far above than what it's set for. IF YES.

pull the front fairing out and you will find the Temp sensor lying below near the cooling grill . its a 8-9 inch flexible pipe kinda temp sensor. pull it out and stick it with a tape on the outside fairing of the ac unit and you are good to go.

also by just cleaning the filter wont solve the problem. there will be a lot of dust or i must say grime ( dust stuck like oil) on the metal radiator too. clean it with Luke warm water and a old toothbrush. the temp sensor gets dipped in the water which gets condensed from the room and detects wrong temperature and hence the thermostat does not gets engaged.

lemme know if it works. :)

Will try it out, hopefully though I may change it before starting it again. :)

try it out... its a commonly faced issue in LG windows ac's due to design flaw of placement of temperature sensor which LG and its technicians are unaware of and have no clue how to sort it out. It was an trial and error find while i was fiddling with the ac's ay relative's place and since then the ac worked like a charm..

you will have to remove the front panel completely and not the dust filter that slides out. its a push-pull kind of cover with hinges.. or whatever way you manage to get it out. the temp sensor stick will be coming out near the air vent and lying parallel to the grill inside the casing. generally white colour (pale white by now :))

Gentlemen, I am a bit lost;

Are we discussing A/C's or A/C's for Audio Room ?

General A/C's for house use - I am not interested in - buy what suits your need / budget etc.

However, when an A/C needs to be installed in an Audio Room - lots of care has to be taken.

Budget / Efficiency / Power Consumption etc. are all of no use.

We only need to make sure that the noise level is very low.
Nothing else matters & you also need to ensure that 100 % extra [double] of what you need is installed.
I have explained all this above in my earlier post. Post # 3.

This LG / Samsung / Blue Star / Voltas etc. etc. will just not work.

Mitsubishi or Daikin is all you have to choose between.

The OG Splits are just too loud - they cool very well, but cannot be used for any audio room installation.

Sir,
I believe it started off as a discussion on an AC for a small audio room, but as is the nature of the beast it evolved into a general discussion on the pains of AC's in general. Thanks for bringing it back to track. You made a very interesting observation in one of your posts (Post #3) , that you listen to the music after switching off the AC, surely in that case any AC that cools sufficiently should suffice and one can probably go for less than the ideal, as the compromise candidate is likely to be cheaper.

Not that I have a listening room anyway :o but, if I had, and I was going to AC it, I'd ensure that the AC was on a different electrical phase to everything else in the room.

Perhaps not so important for more recent "inverter" models.

Correct, and run the AC fan at the lowest speed to shut out the air-cutting noise. If need be, you may too run the ceiling fan, again at the lowest speed to improve the cool air dissipation.

Hi

It is strange to find an AC query on a AV forum..nevertheless, as advised by some members, it is better to go for a bigger AC (Ton). Best options in terms of service, electric consumption and performance would be LG or O General. AC with 3 star rating and above should serve you well.

I use a 2 ton LG AC for an area of 150sq ft and yes it does miracles....within 30 mins the room is freezing (temp set at 24). Go through the countless reviews available on the net for tonnage calculator, energy efficiency ration etc.

Hope this helps.

Correct, my electrician put them on the same line am going to change the phase this month.

Perhaps not so important for more recent "inverter" models.

Hope so too, anyway am separating the phase of both (as also pointed out by forum member Bhagwan in an earlier post) so hopefully it will be ok now.

By the way, General is not an Irish company, and does not have an O' in its name. Look carefully, and you'll see that that round thing is a logo, and the company is called something like Fujitsu General ---iirc.

With thanks to the late Sam Kapasi, who pretty-much managed to talk the Team-BHP community out of calling the company O'General :D

Woops! Sorry, I didn't see that.

I'd just been disturbed by a momentary drop, not in sound, but in the room lights as the AC cut in, and was thus prompted to post.

+1 to the tips on phase separation.

I think I have a phase related problem (ground loop/ buzz, from rear HT speakers only) and yet to be confirmed/ resolved. The buzzing sound goes away when AC is turned off.

BTW if we are going to cool the room and switch off the AC before listening then how does noise matter? :p

Guys thank you for all the great inputs. I finalized got panasonic 1 ton 3 star ac and it will be installed very soon. Cheers
