Will be buying soon as I got a friend who's got 5-7 Tbs of Bluray movies -- which means I will have something to watch when I buy a big TV

Please share inputs on the pros N cons of plasma over led or vice versa. Consider LCDs as well.

Size not more than 46"

Thanks.

You didnt mention your budget....

As far as picture quality is concerned, Plasma Pips the LCD-LED TV for the same budget....

It is going to be more for playing movies, plasma makes a better choice than LCD-LED TV....

My Opinion, i have experienced both plasma & LCD with CCFL backlight.. & love the Plasma picture even-though its brightness is less...

BTW my Next TV will be a 60 inch Plasma either from LG/Samsung if they bring in the new models this year ...

Oldest question on this forum, Plasma or LED? :)

Depends on many variables:

1) What is the content to be watched?

2) Format meaning Blu ray, DVD or soaps etc?

3) Room is dark or light?

4) Budget?

5) FHD or HD?

6) What do you plan to connect it with? Like HT or just a player or other devices etc.

There are many more, but some more thoughts from you can help our FMs to answer.

Answering your questions:
Usage: Watching blurays through HTPC/hdmi.
Budget as low as possible.
Room can be pitch dark.
Might watch broadcast TV as well.

Actually this is what I really need:
Minimum 40/42" size.
FULL HD: I know Plasmas don't have reso but still.
Atleast 1 HDMI port.
IPS Panel.
Black bezel.

Please post with model numbers.

Plasmas in Panasonic S60. Budget roughly Rs 75,000. Basic FHD
Plasmas in Samsung 4100 Really roughly budget Rs 33,000. Not even HD.
Slightly better plasma is the Samsung 4900 which is roughly Rs 42,000. HD.
There are plenty of LED on a shoe string budget of about Rs 30,000 which are usually FHD, however most of the above plasmas are HD and the 4100 Samsung is not even HD.

There are plenty of budget models in Micromax, Philips, Samsung, AOC, Onida to name a few, too many to count.

But the recommended is the S60 Panasonic for a budget and the Samsung 4900 and F5100.

Rest is your call and other advices you receive from other FMs. If my pricing is wrong, then my bad.

Despite the low cost of plasmas I am still inclined towards LEDs because of sheer life-span and low power consumption. The plasma will be connected to my PC which can result in known burn-in issues as the start menu and many other things will be stationary on the screen when connected to PC.

Plasma over LCD/LED anyday. Today's plasmas no longer have burn in issues of yesteryears and power consumption is overhyped.

Power Cost Comparison in USD per year.

Samsung UN32EH4000
32 LED $9.76

LG 47LM7600
47 LED $9.83

Sony KDL-55W900
55 LED $13.26

Toshiba 50L5200U
50 LED $15.72

Sony KDL-46EX640
46 LED $15.98

Vizio E601i-A3
60 LED $17.62

Panasonic TC-L55DT60

Sharp LC-80LE632U

Samsung PN51E450

Panasonic TC-P50S60
50 plasma $44.14

LG 50PM9700

Panasonic TC-P65VT50

For viewing movies go for plasma.we are having both plasma and led.Plasma any day and we are using it extensively past three years and no issues so far.

Its not connected to PC but its regularly used to watch the movies using DVD player, media players,HD DTH.If one is careful cutting the initial 200 hrs , its ok.There is no burn in and other stuff.we are using HD ready 42 pana X20d .

What's the greatest difference you see between the LED you have and the plasma?

i would suggest you to go for LED TV. You can always control colour/brightness of a LED to make it dim but you can never get the crispness of a LED in a plasma, which is the best part about LED.

The difference is led is good for viewing in daytime .Its very bright.Plasma needs controlled lighting and the dark sequences one can see the details. We do watch plasma in dynamic mode wherein the brightness and color are prominent.

Hey guys let me decide best 39/42 " led TV.
