Blu-ray Disc Rental in Delhi-Gurgaon

Which region coded discs are being provided by the rental guys. I am going to buy a blu-ray player soon and want to know buying which region coded will be a better choice from the content perspective.

Most BD movies are region-free, Check this link Blu-Ray Movie Region Coding Database List.

When buying a player think where would you be getting your discs from, US releases by far are superior and have extras, also release earlier than anywhere. But this would lead you to import every time.

Aren't there region-free blu-ray players yet or not at least hacked yet?

If a rental library is sourcing its disks from US then it would be region A, otherwise most of the library's in Delhi and NCR are stocking BDs which are sold from the retail shelves so they are either region free or region locked to C.

Ashish,

May be a old news to you - Interestingly I read somewhere that you can your PS3 to rip your movies. So you can rent the discs and rip them onto your external HDD. Check ps3hacks for that - they use Swiss Knife for it.

Yes I had read about that a long time back and I have installed Yellow Dog Linux onto my Ps3 to do that but for the time being I have left this part of the hack untouched and injoying my region free Oppo.
The problem with BDs in India is that the penetration is not much so the quantity is limited and most of the titles avaliable are either already watched on DVDs which I am sourcing from Rent Bollywood/Hollywood/Regional Movies, Latest Movie Updates, Wallpapers, Reviews, Celebrities | Seventymm. Earlier I use to import a lot of disks from amazon.com and a time was there when I had a collection of over 40 (now decesed) HD DVD titles and 30 Blu ray titles and after keeping a few refrence disks I have sold them all at the Palika Bazar in Delhi. I got 350 for each HD DVD and 900 for each Blu Ray, so this kept me interested in importing Blu Rays from Amazon but since the dollar prices have shot up this route has also dried down and now the Indian BDs are avaliable for 1300 bucks so these guys at Palika are not interested in buying the stuff from me at that price. HD DVD news was a shocker to me as I had Xbox 360 external HD drive with Xbox 360 to play those disks which I ultimately disposed off.

Get in touch with the Laserland in sector 15 market they charge 1000 as life time membership fees (non refundable) and then would take a deposit of 1000 for 10 blu ray disks (can be redemed in unlimited days). Their contact information is 01294008008,01294009009,9811951010.

Thanks for the info!

I don't think you need yellow dog Linux to do this -do you?

Which brand it is?From where you got it?

I also came across one such player once the Brand was Olin which is an Australian based companyr and I was getting the same for 15k which was region free for both Blu ray and Dvds but the problem was that the player was profile 1.1 so no Bd live and it could not bitstream lossless audio.

Mine BD player is Chinese and it has no BD live. Can you please help educate me about BD live and does Sony ,Samsung or Philips have BD live?I believe Philips is launching their cheaper BD player by the end of this month

bd-live is a feature in profile 2.0. it allows you to connect to internet using wired or wireless options. Depending upon the blu-ray, you can connect to the net and see more info, interviews demos etc for that movie. There is also an option to view streaming movies from netflix and other providers, of course you have to take a membership and pay for the streaming.
