Blu Ray Rental

At Raja the rate used to be 75/DVD/24 hours and 150/BD/24 hours. 100/DVD was a long long time ago. Been a member since LD days. They have a huge collection and almost all DVDs/BDs are Region 1/A. The current membership fees/deposit would be pretty high though.

There was another outlet, Cinema Paradiso. They shut shop suddenly and didn't bother to return the security deposit of 3k.

That's why I said last time I was there. :p

Had/should still have(?) an LD/DVD account (also since the LD days) with them. Haven't used it in ages! At least, not since I started buying my own DVDs/BDs.

I know that his DVDs were all Region 1. That didn't matter during the DVD era, but is sure going to now, with all local BD players being locked to Region C.

just became member of moviemart.

i had tried out seventymm a few years ago and as someone mentioned earlier.. 1 dvd per day sounds great, but you can never make it work that way, unless u r a group of guys staying together. with family, it s not feasible and not possible as well.
not to mention

I prefer to buy DVDs or Blu Rays of movies that I can watch again and again and for rest I guess exchanging between friends or buying them when you see a discount offer is the best way.

a final option is also to load the soft versions on a HDD/USB and save them.

Finally, how many hours does a working person want to spend on movies when he has family, children, hobbies, friends, 100s of channels available of DTH..

Agreed 100%. Despite, pure math may say that it is cheap to go for one per day kinda movie rental, practically it's impossible to get the best value. So better buy the movies yourself. I normally buy some in BDs and others in DVDs and occasionally goes RIPs as well, if I think that is only good for a one time view and has no repeat value.

In fact out of the rentals, MOVIEMART seems is a better option considering that you can order as per your need and keep it for a long time (no per day issue).

Movie mart is best. They deliver very promptly & use very good couriers. Only issue as mentioned earlier is availability of titles in Blue Ray..they are trying to improve on this count

As Blu ray has been there for a long time. Any new Blu ray rentals in Bangalore which are good and have good service. Thinking of buying a player, but before i do that finding out how the rental scene is. Don't want to end up investing in a player and not getting Blu ray's for rent. I am not interested in buying them. All inputs and suggestions are welcome.

Is my understanding right about Movie Mart rentals

2 Blu-rays at a time pack of 24 @Rs.3199 plus Security (Refundable) - Rs.2000 [plan validity -Life Time]

Which means you can watch 24 movies at Rs. 3199 and you have to recharge your account with same or different plan once you complete watching all of them?
