BluRay Player Under 14k - Should be hackable

Hi,

This is the first time i'm going to buy a bluray player, i need a good hackable Blueray player (also a tutorial on how to hack it..lol) i checked ebay for some price idea and saw bd65 for 11.5 k is it good or should i look for something else, dvd upscaling is not much issue as denon 1911 has upscaler but BD playback quality should be good.

Why don't you check the Sale thread. There is already a Sherwood Blu Ray player for sale which would be suitable to your budget and the player can also be made region free.

^^ i'm not sure about sherwood 1st theres no warranty here, 2nd there are several problems mentioned in threads, even in amazon.com hissing sound is one which is most annoying.

I did try the player and I accept there is a hissing sound which is very light, but my friend who was also there also said that his Sony BD 370 makes almost the same noise while loading. But warranty is something I am not aware about.

From what I read earlier in this forum and other forums, you need a hardware kit to make a BD player region free. These kits are to be imported. So first check whether there is a kit available for the model that you are proposing to buy. Hope this helps.

hi all,

As far as I know, this sherwood 5004 blu ray and DVD regions can be changed by entering key presses on the remote. No hardware mods needed. There is a separate thread about this player with all details. Please check it out.
