How are these speakers?
I am a total newbie and saw these priced at USD $ 1000.00 on Amazon and was attracted to them. I will be listening to 70 % music and rest movies.
What does Powered Acoustimass module mean? Does it mean if I order it from Amazon it will be running on 110 V.
What kind of AVR is recomended?
In short I am looking for a 5.1 setup within 70 K.
How is the Sony BDP S 360 ?
Cheers,

Long answer - Search Forums. All is waiting to be told in 10+ long threads on exactly this topic.

Short answer - Do not buy the acoustimass series from Bose. For a budget of $1000, there are much better options out there. Again, search forums for a 5.1 setup under the price range you're looking for. A few candidates:

Aperion Audio (sale going on right now on their website - use google)
Wharfedale 10 or 9 series
Energy RC series/ Take classic series

firstly if you listen to 70% music i dont suggest a surround sound set up. a stereo set up will be much better. and you'll get better sound quality at the budget. a good pair of bookshelves (usher comes very highly recommended) and apart from that monitor audio, kef, wharfedales are all good. for amps there is marantz, nad, cambridge.

Stay away from BOSE:mad: You can have a much better set-up with seperates. If you need help send me a PM.

Francis

Dont use your Home Theater Setup to listen to Music if you are serious about it.
Go for a seperate Hi Fi system if you listen to music 70% and for the rest 30% Movies go for any HTIBs from Onkyo which are affordable and easily available in our Country.

I am using a Sony S360 BD Player, its good for the price but it doesnt have the eject button on remote.

Dear Friends,

Im picking up on an old post on the Accoustimass 10 Series IV. I was looking for a good home music system which can give good surround sound around the Rs. 75,000 ($1500) including the speakers and the amplifier system. It will be interfaced to a CD player mostly to listen to music. After doing some research I felt investing on an Onkyo 5.1 Ch Amplifier system and buying the Bose Accoustimass 10 Series IV speakers would be the best option for my budget. Could you tell me what would be the best system - speaker combo to invest in. Your inputs are much appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,
Vishwas
