BOSE Acoustimass 3 Series IV Speakers

There is nothing big in this to talk about. In this price bracket you can buy lot of other Book shelf speakers keeping in view of the performance and future upgrade. Bose is purely Marketing and concept selling than selling the product. In fact I am not telling this just by reading reviews and books.

Long long ago so long ago........
1. First I owned Bose 301 book shelf as L R speakers then added 161 as center and surround with yamaha YST 300

2. Then I changed to AM10 speaker package.

3. Then I changed to AM15 speaker package.

for a brief period of time I did own 601 and 701 towers of bose.

Then slowly I realised that bose is nothing but pure marketing and concept selling. you will loose lot of mid range in Bose AM series speakers as the bass is good and Hi range is good. Of course on the whole I feel their AM 15 speaker package is some what better than any of their speakers with regard to movies and still not worth for the price that we have to pay. If any one can manage AM15 series III at a cheaper price it is some what worth it keeping view of its subwoofer and for a compact HT system with amplifier and for a small room or Bed room HT system.

The only Bose speakers I really like is the 301 and 201 (for smaller rooms).
The AM5 lacks presence........try to audition the AM5 vs 301 and I am sure you will like the 301 very much.....if space is not a problem then go for the 301.....

i have it and use it as the fronts of my HT. for pure audio purposes a wharfedale would do it better

the am 3's isnt a great speaker package. if youre looking for surround sound then choose something else. you'll get much better sq in your price range. the 301's is a good speaker set in its price range, but thats if youre looking for stereo. whats your budget / listening habits (music:video)

the satellites and sub of bose dont cover the entire frequency range. Most of the speakers dont, but they either miss the low end or the top end. Bose systems miss frequency range in the middle. Usually you will see some overlap between the sub and the sats, but for bose, the sub doesnt even start where the sats have ended, but some 50 hz lower. I personally havent measured them, but read reports from people who did.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
