I am new to this site so bear with me.

I bought a new house with surround sound already set up in basement. The guy took the Bose speakers...so I replaced those with average quality speakers, the wiring was left intact ...However he did leave the Bose outlet that has like 16 pins on it for a specially design Bose cable I presume. So...I bought a Bose cable that hooks to a Bose outlet and tried to hook this Bose cable that hooks to the Bose outlet and has 6 plugs on it...I plugged the 6 plugs into the back of my DVD player and it didn't work...what am I doing wrong? Or do I need an amplifier or receiver to plug the 6 plugs into not a DVD player

help me out please....

This is what is what I have connect to the wall...I need those 6 plugs to connect to either the TV or DVD player to get the sound to run through them.

This is a proprietary adapter. This only connects a Bose Acoustimass speaker system. You can not use it with other HT systems.
Remove the plug and the adapter and use the cable as conductors.

1st thing.. as mentioned its a unique adaptor which will not work with anything else.
second even to run the speakers you need power so you either need a multi channel amp or a receiver..

either way you are looking north of 15k to start with..

What do you mean by this?

Sorry for the late response.

I think what Rupam meant to say is that - the real thing that you want to reuse is the pre-existing wiring. The connectors are custom Bose connectors that will not work with standard (and cheaply available) connectors. You can get rid of the custom Bose connectors and replace it with standard RCA sockets (MX Electronics would be a good place to look).

To put it another way, there's not much value in retaining the Bose connectors themselves. Its just another crappy example of a company creating custom connectors to force people to use their own equipment which would undoubtedly be overpriced. I don't know why I suddenly thought of Apple.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
