Setting up a modest HI-FI system.

Then a wireless system, something like KEF LS 50 is your best option. If you do want to get into the 'science', @square_wave 's comment is sound advice.
Are there any other systems similar to KEF LS50 Wireless II? How much can I expect to pay for it in Delhi/NCR? I looked up KEF's website and the sole authorised distributor/dealer is ProHiFi in Mumbai.

Gosh! This is way too much science for me 😅 Am more of a plug and play guy. I think I might be comfortable spending a little over couple of lakhs or thereabouts. But here's what I would like the system to offer:

*Room correction
*DSP
High resolution playback
Online Music services
Wi-Fi
eArc
Storage (if possible) or ability to add storage.

Speakers will need to be bookshelf as I will place them on the TV unit below the TV on either side. Would prefer not adding a subwoofer though I do have some space for it. Bookshelf speakers with adequate bass would be nice. Music taste is all over the place - Some Western/Indian classical, Hindi and English oldies, Pop, Ghazals, Instrumental, Rock, Reggae, Blues, Vocals, drums etc. Not a big fan of heavy metal, rap, trance, electronic etc.

Long duration warranties, after-sales service and support. My last system lasted me nearly 20 years and BOSE spoilt me rotten.

Someone suggested models in the Naim Uniti series and pairing them with Focal bookshelves. Some suggested KEF LS50 Wireless II is all that I require. Just read some horrible reviews of NAIM.

What do I do about the prices for the same piece of equipment being all over the place?

Who are the reliable retailers in and around Delhi? I would love to audition at home (due to mobility issues and also cause the room, am told, is the biggest factor influencing sound).

Looking to the members to guide.

*Can't do much about the room. Have attached pictures of the tv unit. Room is probably 12 x 12 x 11 (height). Balcony wall has been removed and replaced with UPVC and glass. The wall behind my listening position is paneled with teak plywood. It also has a wooden door with a glass panel (bathroom) - can be seen in the picture.View attachment 87341

Here you go.
Marantz NR1200 Stereo Network Receiver
That is a good one and going at a good discount now. Pick up before it disappears from the market. Has network, arc for tv etc. Is 2 channel and pretty decent sound from what I hear online. I had done some R&D on this amp for a friend a few months ago. Since you need ARC and all, finding that in a traditional stereo reciever is tough.

Wiim pro plus streamer

You are left with a lot of budget for a good speaker now. Get the best you can along with a nice stand and cables.

2 channel amps that have good room correction are quite expensive. The amp itself with be more than 2L.
But you do some R&D into Dirac and Minidsp that allows you to fiddle with the signal between the output of dac and input of amp. Quite popular with DSP peeps. Maybe people with some experience can jump in here.

Thank you. I could not see the Marantz amplifier on their website. Seems to have been discontinued. Fiddling isn't my cup of tea, and am willing to pay for the machine to do it on my behalf, or temper my ambitions a little 😀 By the way, I do not have space for stands either. I think the speakers will have to be on the TV unit (pictures attached). A carpenter fabricated this for me and it is really solid - we tested it with two people jumping up and down on it!

I can see it.

Look at Lyngdorf amps in India. Fabulous room correction built in. I dont think they have anything below 2.5L. TDAI 1120
Also many amps allow optional modules that allow minidsp or dirac live so thay work as if they are built in.
NAD M10 v2
NAD C399
Arcam SA30

Also you will need to lift the speakers from your cabinet using some isolation. Or the cabinet will sing along and also affect dispersion characteristics of the speaker negating anything you do with room correction. Bigger elephant in the room is the placement of speaker on cabinet directly.
Iso acoustics aperta is a decent solution.

Thank you. Finding genuine dealers is the problem now. For everything else, I now have the forum members like you. 😀

Isolation - it all adds up quickly, doesn't it?😅

Silly question perhaps, are room correction and DSP one and the same thing?
DSP can be used for many things but in the context of audio amplifiers, they are used for room correction most of the time. Many av recievers do it too -- ( in a much cheaper way) but they change the fidelity of the sound although they may solve frequency imbalances to some extent.

So, I can find equipment with both of either? KEF LS50 Wireless II has these?
That speaker is an all in one speaker but it does not do room correction. All you probably need to add is a streamer like blusound node or wiim pro. Most probably the DAC output and Preamp ( amp input ) are connected internally so you may not be able to do DSP with an outboard device either.

Hmmm...alternatives?

Also, since you have seen my room's pictures, do you think I will need DSP and/or room correction?

What is your expectation for this system in terms of performance? DSP / RC helps when one runs into trouble with frequency balance and sound stage due to loudspeaker placement constraints. You obviously have placement constraints. Adjoining wall distances are also important . Maybe it will improve with dsp but I am not sure how much. I have not played around with dsp.

You just hit the nail on its head. I am hoping opting for RC/DSP will help improve the sound quality despite all the constraints with speaker placement, room acoustics etc.

Room correction is DSP in its very basic form in my opinion. And is mostly targeted at getting the bass right, despite room constraints.

But proper DSP is a very powerful tool and encompasses a lot more, which sadly is beyond the skill level of most of us. DSP being completely manual, I would'nt consider that necessary at our level of understanding of the underlying acoustic science. Best to stick with automated room correction systems like Dirac or Audyssey.

For what its worth, Iam listening to music played from my laptop via bluetooth to a Samsung Q-6R SE sound bar + subwoofer system. And it is sounding enjoyable enough to me. Though not of the fidelity we would expect in a proper HT or 2 channel system. But considering its asking price, I suspect that sound bars higher up the price range should be very decent sounding for the money. Maybe something worth exploring.

Thank you for your thoughts. I bought the Ambeo Sennheiser sound bar when it was first launched. Didn't quite like it.

Check model M1 from marantz. Which has hdmi earc Bluetooth and 100 watts each channel 8 ohms.
