Budget CD Changer

Hi all,

I'm looking for a 5 or 6 disc CD changer as really it is a convenient equipment to listen music continuously without taking the effort to change the CD every 2 or 3 songs from an album. After all the reviews, I could narrow down to Denon DCM390, SONY CDP-CE500, ONKYO DXC390.

I want the advise from the FMs using any of the above or any other CD changer on the quality of the equipment. Presently Profx is selling only the Denon DCM500 AE ( 18k) and the sony cd changers goes for 15k in ebay global buy. No idea about the price of Onkyo in India. Will consider, if it is within 20k.

I have heard the CD5004 many years back - I wouldn't call it bright, just with a bit of Zing in the treble that actually added sparkle to the sound. Perhaps that zing is back in the latest model and changing another component down the chain like the IC might tame it in the new one.

I'm just curious - if you are looking for convenience at a budget price, why not Just rip them onto a hard disk and use a good DAC?

I have a hard disk with all songs stored in it as a backup. But browsing the list of songs/ folders in a sequeal for listening makes me uncomfortable.Moreover, I like to load the CDs and listen to them.

I got a quote from Onkyo showroom (Alwarpet) for 22.5K for the DXC 390.

had a couple of cd changers years ago, most of them worked well for a while & then started giving trouble. in todays world, it makes sense to rip the discs on a hard drive & play the same with a good dac connected in the chain. why is it so difficult to make a list of tracks & save it?

still if you are happy & want to struggle with these crap disc changers then look for bargains on your local olx/quickr ad portals or go for the new onkyo

Havent heard one. Have seen a few around with used gear dealers. Like ESP mentioned, olx/quickr may be a good bet to find one.

disc changers are generally NOT considered audiophile ... their overall performance overall PERCEIVED as inferior..

by the way search used market - you might get one at very reasonable price and use it as standby.

also pionerr & sony had/had 100 /100+ cd changers - see if you get that
