Building a DIY Subwoofer through a builder

My sub is ready, made a sealed sub for now, all the builders were busy, so had to get it done locally will use for a few months, before opting for the ported one. Initial impression is great, maybe I wont even need to go ported.

Will post everything after a bit of testing, also my amp is not good quality and very low power as well. The problem is that the builders are not active they do not reply properly, if you send them one text they'll take two business days to reply. My driver was lying and I had no other option but to get it done locally.

One thing I can suggest right away is to go with a ported design with IWAI, the sealed design is really great for music but not suitable enough for movies.

Back with a proper review.
The sub needs to be positioned properly, needs some breakin period as well.

Starting off with the driver, the quality is top notch, although its not suitable for a sealed enclosure because of its xmax limitations, it still punches really good. For music this sealed enclosure reaches SPL level of upto 85-90 comfortably. The bass is tight punchy, and more of a feel thing, no muddiness no chuffing just plan simple good bass. Good enough for a 100sqft room I would say. My enclosure is 14x14x18 Inches. the speaker can take maximum of 120 watts before it reaches its xmax, although rated for 400 RMS, its limited mechanically and thus in sealed the SPL levels are low. But oh boy does it make my room shake, at 30 hz. The frequency range that is achieved in this setup is about -3db at 27 hz. Crossovered at 80hz with edifier 1280, it pairs good enough. The total built only costed me about 12k INR.

For anyone who wants the sub for movies, then going with ported design will help a lot, because firstly the xmax limitation, one can achieve a lot higher level of SPL without reaching the xmax with ports. I will be out of station for the year, otherwise I would have built a ported enclosure just for the comparison. Maybe next year.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you for documenting your budget build and I'm sure many will benefit from it. Hope you are able to make the changes soon and make it work to its full potential?

Also, when you said that the builders were busy, did you mean guys like Albin? In case you didn't know, you can also get your enclosure made by audiofy.in using cnc and you can assemble them locally.
