Hello All,

I am looking to build a budget HT (around 25k)

The main purpose would be to connect to my PC and Samsung 40' LED TV.

I use my LED for both PC as well as TV. I wont be using the Blu-ray player as I watch movies either online or download them.

Found two possible options,

- Logitech z906.
- Yamaha YTH 196.

Can i get Dolby/digital decoding at this budget??

Any suggestions please?

Hi

Proper entry level Home Theatres are Yamaha/Pioneer/Denon. The model suggested by you has dolby decoding...the latest is YHT 199...The key is to audition the systems which appeal in terms of appearance, performance and ofcourse budget.

Home Theatres start from 24k onwards and can land in lakhs....if you are open to owning pre owned systems due to budget constraints, would recommend you visit the Sale By Owner posts, HiFi Ads link etc.

Thanks for your reply....

I did browse and couldn't get 199 anywhere in indian market. Can you suggest a good quality dealer?? I live in chennai...

Apart from Yamaha, can you please post some models along with details ?

Thanks in advance again.

Understand

If you stretch your budget you can get Onkyo 3500

also check Denon packages
Harmon Kardon / JBL packages
Pioneer packages

You should check

HDMI Decoding and passthrough
High Definition (HD) audio decoding - DTS HD MA & Dolby True HD

Preferably

Yamahas 196 does NOT decode HD audio

Hi darkavenger 143,

You need to demo these systems to decide which one works well for you. Everyone has different tastes in music and movies...some like loud stuff, bassy, clarity...everyone is different...so take your favourite music and movies and go auditioning systems ...there are ample dealers in Chennai...I am sure some related threads in HFV would set the direction for you...also a simple google search would help.
